You can adjust the RGB levels in the driver control panel. With the Nivida drivers, I can not adjust the RGB levels and still use Datacolor's profile loader. I was hoping for the ability to adjust at the pseudo hardware level - like you can with a desktop monitor.

Also, working on my M6300 with the CCFL display today. Its so washed out compared to the RGBLED on the M6500. Tough to look at after getting used to the new display. I will throw this out there - maybe some of the issues we talk about with the new display have to do with the jump up in color palette compared to older technology.

I don't understand, I explained in this topic how to do that.
    Check my picture :
Select the channel you want (red, green or blue) and then adjust it by moving gamma button. Afterwards, select the next channel you want to adjust.
So what's the problem? Is it not enough accurate for you?

I think you have a problem with what words should be put into bold.

You can adjust the RGB levels in the driver control panel. With the Nivida drivers, I can not adjust the RGB levels and still use Datacolor's profile loader. I was hoping for the ability to adjust at the pseudo hardware level - like you can with a desktop monitor.

With the Datacolor Profile Loader/Spyder 3 Utility I have to select the "Other Applications Control Color Settings" which is not something that shows up in your screenshot that you linked.

This means I get two options. Let Nvidia control the color settings which allows the settings that you linked OR let Datacolor load the profiles that created by the Spyder 3 Elite. I do not get an AND in those options.

Sorry you thought I was incapable of following your instructions. More than happy to correct you.

    Hi Bokeh,

Ok in the BIOS, do you have the Ambient Light Sensor enabled?
You know that the adjustments made in the LCD Brightness section from the BIOS only work when the Ambient Light Sensor is disabled. Do you have everything checked in the System Configuration --> Miscellaneous Devices. And go throw the BIOS check everything if you already haven’t

If this is a WUXGA RGB LED LCD, this should not be this hard. It’s like something is fighting you and its wining.:p lol

I Just Read this Blog about Spyder 3 Elite and DELL 2408WFP:
    By Pieter Viljoen's Blog

And a great utility called mControl that allows adjustment of the monitor settings.

The only other thing I can think of is to do a clean install, wipe the system clean and start over. Install the driver in the correct order.

If you do a clean install, I would install the OS then try to calibrate your M6500’s screen with Spyder 3 Elite. If that work fantastic, you’re on the right track then install one driver then recalibrate your screen …etc until you find the driver from hell. :)

I just got the Elite in and used it on my U2410's I used to use Xrite before, in terms of menu the datacolor seems better.

But I did not try it on a laptop display.
So you do have an option in the data color menu to use the RGB in Nvidia drivers when you calibrate? But it does not let you store the profile in Datacolor using that, the way I read it is it is one or the other, Nvidia color profile or Datacolor?

I'm always pleased to learn from my mistakes. Maybe I'm a moron but nobody answered to my post and it's also the first time I understand clearly the true problem. It's a software conflict so can you use an other one than Spyder 3?

No laptop monitor I know of has hardware calibration capability. What you are calibrating is actually the graphics card, not the display.

Check this link also. Another user is also facing a similar issue on M6400 regarding the color problem : http://en.community.dell.com/forums/t/19243123.aspx

    Hi all,

Read this thread the same problem but post#115 may have the solution to this problem.

    Bokeh,

Did you save the default display profile, before you started calibration?

Well, finaly finished reading this entire thread and I must say I am really on edge now and hope that I don't have any issues. I do alot of 3D modeling and photorealistic renderings for work and the hole purpose of purchasing this system is to be able to provide good color quality to our clients and be able to show them what thier buidling will look like prior to being built.

I also need to be able to calibrate the screen with an HP printer so when I show someone something on the screen it looks the same when its printed out.

If this is not the system I should be using for Revit and 3DS Max Design, please someone tell me now so I can cancel my order. I don't want to wait til feb 27th to recieve a system that will not be able to do what I need it to.

    Thanks for everyone's help.
