I just checked out some of the Vids and AUGI and it seems like this workstation is ment to run Revit and 3DS MD. So i'm feelling a little better now. I just need to find out more info on using the Mini Drive to run the OS and possibly Revit in order to inprove boot time!

Oh and thinks mannya for your time!

Sorry for the smart a$$ed reply. Snowed in here and had a long morning. Will try to figure out a way to make the spyder and nvidia work together.

I think there would be a way to let windows load an icc priofile and not use the datacolor profile loader. The loader is what seems to be incompatable.

I use the profile chooser to switch between 3 profiles though.

I also apologize for being so confusing on some of my posts. Like right now where I am posting from an ipod and can only see about a half a line of text, and typing is imprecise with no spell check.

That’s what I thought, I am glad they helped. If you see new ones link them in this thread,

Is there reason why you picked the NVIDIA FX 2800M over the NVIDIA FX 3800M?

If you have the funds for the NVIDIA FX 3800M I would recommend the FX 3800M Over the FX 2800M,
    that’s just my two cents.

Be aware there is an issue with the colors in the display panel that you have read earlier in this thread. I do not know how it will affect Revit2010 or the other Autodesk products, with that said. I have not heard of any adverse affect on Revit2010 …act from the other Autodesk users on this thread. I think dell is working on this issue.

The worse case is; if the M6500 doesn’t meet your needs you just send it back to dell.
It is a new line of Workstations Intel i7, NIVIDA FX 3800M there are bound to be some hiccups.

It's ok, everybody has good and bad times. ;)

It's easy to do that under windows 7 (color management in the control panel) but you will lose the possibility to switch quickly between your profiles. I think it's not possible to use both nvidia and spyder in the same time because it's like to make a double correction and it leads to a software conflict.

Did you try to go to msconfig, then to startup and uncheck everything linked to nvidia to see what happens?

I would also advise you to try 3D on your M6500, perhaps the wrong colors will show you new dimensions or will lead a new revolutionary concept lol.

    just got my M6500

    M6500 Core i7 920, 8GB, 256 ssd, 17 RGBLED, ATI Firepro

I also got a dock so the very first thing at the top of the box was "What the ..... is that"

The Brickmaster 5000 power supply. I was relieved to find that the "small" power adapter that came with the unit is indeed smaller but its still horrible to lug around. I travel a lot so any weight I can shed is worth the $ so has anyone tried any other power adapters. I think Targus make some and I also found this - innergie

    http://www.myinnergie.com/nbAdapters/default.aspx

seems odd that I just bought a top of the range computer that comes with a 1980's power adapter. I realize that there are limits but surely it must be possible to come up with something better. yes it would cost more but I would happily pay $2-300 if I could halve its size and weight.

And while I am banging on about pwr I would be quite happy if dell made a version of the M6500 without the battery. I plug in everywhere i go and I remove the battery because I dont see any point lugging that for nothing. Anyone know if I can get a blank battery case to fill in the hole it leaves in the base? Would rather that they stripped the batt out and made unit smaller or even build in the power supply. Or even use the extra space to install desktop chips. A true portabe desktop. As a scientist on the move I really want that processing grunt.

Other impressions - underwhelmed by the grey - wish I got the orange now.

Don't forget that M6500 is a power consumption beast. The adapter is for 240W which is a quite large electrical load demand. To give you an idea, my current laptop (Fujitsu-Siemens Lifebook E8010) has an adapter of 80W. Sometimes, it's pure physics and you need the space to do that. :)

    Hi t_tangent !

Cubase works correctly with hyperthreading in most cases. If you have a lot of drop, launch DPC latency checker to check if there isn't a driver that have a big latency. I'll do the same when I will receive my M6500, even though I don't buy it for audio production.

    MannyA,

May I know what is the rendering speed of your 920 on Revit2010? Mine is the 820 processor. The 920 is not yet available in my region. I can e-mail you the file for testing. The reason I ask is, if the 920 processor become available, I want to know if its worth upgrading. Just let me know if you are interested.
