    Hi giannini,

Nice videos, that’s why the bull sh-- drives me up the wall… lol
I do get a little hot and bothered over certain things. just a little lol

I wish I could have gone to AU 2009, but I do have Autodesk Subscriptions.
thus I am able to view AU virtual online, that’s ok not the same as being there but
    better than nothing.

Thanks for your explanations and commentaries. I agree that each calibration will change depending on our environment. However, don't you think samsung or dell could calibrate the screen in order to have good parameters in common situations? (I don't know if it's possible, it's a true question)

I'm not sure OLED or another technology will be an ultimate answer to the perfect screen. On wikipedia, you can see that OLED screens have a lot of disadvantages, like color balance issues which is not good at all for your use.

Cancelled my order as well and will wait for the usb3 and ssd options. My Dell Rep said the new options are usually available for order a week or so after the press release.

To ship a system with an accurately profiled display (and color controls that work for color-critical work out of the box) will probably add cost to the system. Hopefully Dell is reading the feedback on this and other forums, and understanding that color is an "issue" right now with their wide gamut laptop displays, and they will start to understand that addressing this issue will significantly improve their reputation in the long run.

The other part of the equation is consumer education. Many people want an RGBLED display because "its the best" and don't really understand what they are getting themselves into. A display that covers the sRGB color space would be more appropriate for most users. One reason so many people like the Macbook Pro so well is that it has a decent screen that covers the sRGB space. So they get good representation of colors the way that most systems and applications are designed to handle color, and they don't have the drawbacks of over-saturated colors in non-color managed applications that wide gamut displays do. Apple has been very smart in the way they have designed and marketed the system. Unfortunately much of that marketing has succeeded because of consumer ignorance (with respect to actual gamut of the MacBook Pro displays).

There is something I'm not sure to understand. Even if an icc profile is loaded in windows 7, it's only working in color managed applications?

What NIC Broadcom Driver are you using?

I currently have the Dell 12.2.0.3 installed. Broadcom has 12.2.2.1 on their site.

Correct!! That is a point that most people don't understand. An icc profile will correct the white point (color shifts) for non-color managed applications, but unless you are working in a color managed application ALL colors will be too saturated with a wide gamut display. See this post for an explanation of why that is true: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?p=5762543#post5762543

Thanks to everyone who has posted their experiences here; you have both scared the crap out of me and made me aware of what's going on with the M6500.

I ordered mine on Jan 8th; I received it Feb 4th. Sorry to all whom I seem to have passed up. I'm a university customer, I don't know if that makes me special or not. For the record I have the non-Covet, 920, 3800, 4GB 1333, 5300, 320GB disk; Win7 x64.

It's fantastic. Worth the wait, although like many here I'm pissed that they are upgrading the hardware specs this early in the game. The battery lasts a lot longer than I expected!

One question for you all. I paid attention to the monitor hubbub a while back but I think I lucked out. My Hardware ID for the "Generic PnP Monitor" is

    MONITOR\LGD0241

Did I get the LG monitor? Should I be excited? All I know is that it's quite a bit better than my old CCFL backlighted Inspiron 9300 (also WUXGA). I hope to learn about color gamuts from you all but my primary interest in the machine is for computational mechanics - CFD & FEM. I wanted the fastest I could get for pre, run, and post-processing.

Great, now you'll have everyone threatening to return their system so they can get the LG monitor. Did you order the RBGLED display?

I read your post but I forgot about it sorry. I was wondering how to find a solution to this issue. You can have a LUT loader (like in Spyder) but some applications/games (steam) can mess with your profile.
There is a solution to have a persistent profile in every applications/games for free. I think it can be useful, so take a look at it : http://www.hex2bit.com/products/product_mcw.asp
