A point of interest for some maybe:

I gave authorisation for my original orders to be cancelled over the last few days due to problems with both orders in build. I wasn't able to get specifics and nor was I too interested to be honest, but they are now re-building my orders and I expect to get the machines in a week or so, which is considerably shorter than the originally quoted delivery date. Edit: I iz dumb and cannot do math, will be near original delivery date

Mine are orange 920's, 8Gb RAM, with a mix of encrypted and regular 256Gb SSD's.

Unfortunately of course, although reports of USB 3.0-packing units may have leaked out I'm not able to specify it. And nor is apparently GOBI sorted out for EU. Not that I care a huge amount on the former - I suspect eSATA will serve better for storage duties during the lifetime of the machines in my case.

I was on the phone with Gold Tech Support to look into this. There is no updated driver. They staid they did not hear of this issue previously. I cannot isolate the hum to any one thing. It comes and goes.

Currently I have head phones plugged it with nothing playing. most the time there is no sound; however, there are times where the hum/crack/buzz is there.

I agree it is probably a driver issue.

I am going to re-image the machine on my SSDs and see if there is still an issue afterwards.

I am on my 2nd M6500 (Win7 64 Bit), and they both exhibit this same random speaker popping noise.

Here are the pictures, not that anyone cares at this point.
But you can see the different color modes. With color cast change.

Also you can see the DD3-1600 Dell chose to use.
