So I'm 3 days out form ship date and here I am wondering if I should cancel my order just to ensure the 3.0 and mini ssd.

AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH, I don't know what to do! I really need this system so I can get some work done!

If they can upgrade you later...I'd take delivery I think...however, if you're very anal and can wait, call them and have them change to usb 3.0 and see if they can move you up the food chain. FWIW.

    YBcold,

On one hand ( New Motherboard, New SSD Minicard, and New USB 3.0 ), on the other hand
(Old Motherboard old two months old ;) lol, Two Drives, No Minicard, and USB 2.0 )

What to do Cancel and reorder or keep the old System?

What a dilemma; what are you kidding me… What do you think you should do…..

I'm getting fussy, but anyone noticed some kind of thin glue or polish trickle (can't take it off with my nail) between the hooks of the lid ? (on the non covet M6500).

Another question for photographers - or anyone who has an ExpressCard CF reader and has their M6500 in hand...

I want to make use of my ExpressCard slot by permanently keeping a CF reader in there and using it while not docked. When docked, I currently use my Dell 2707WFP which has the built-in CF reader, connected via USB 2.0.

I've read some reviews of various models from SIIG, Belkin, Delkin, and DataFab, and was wondering if anyone has any experience with any of these? Are the transfer rates all in the 30MB range, or are some significantly slower/faster?

    Looking at something like
    this one

My goal is to have a reader that does not protrude out of the slot at all / is flush with the side of the laptop, at least without the CF card inserted. Some reviewers have said this is the case, others have said that they stick out; obviously this most likely varies depending on the laptop model of the reviewer. I did not find any reviews by M6400 or M6500 owners.

Some have also said they have issues with Win7 not recognizing the CF card after you hot swap it, although I am sure a search for the right drivers would cure this if I ran into it.

    Any input would be great!

    Hi absynthe21,

Take a picture of it and post the picture here so we can see the problem.

But that doesn't matter to much for us then i guess, because until the next refresh dell cant deliver our systems that we ordered anyway.. So i guess when they finally can deliver them the next refresh date is already passed...

we ordered 5-2 with a delivery date of 5-3 thats already moved to 15-3 and the last time i was on the phone the screens where nowhere to be found..
So i dont think we will get them before 15-3

But who knows, maybe because of this we do get USB3 ;)

I believe both the "old" and the "new" can accomodate the 64GB SSD minicard. Both accomodate a total of two 2.5" drives (perhaps three if we replace the optical drive with an optibay).

My understanding is that with the new you get 3.0 or a choice of i5 processors.
