Hooray! My Precision M6500 arrived yesterday (Saturday 27 March) after exactly 5 days of waiting (I ordered on Monday 22 March) - it is fast because it is assembled by Dell in Malaysia where I'm currently at. Although my sales rep and product engineer told me that it will come with USB 2.0, it actually came with USB 3.0 (after I enabled it in the BIOS). The M6500 has been amazing so far with its light weight compared to the M17x. No dead pixels and fast as lightning on my little 64GB SSD (I need to buy a higher capacity drive but I'm not sure if the second hdd bracket is included).

I turned off the annoying auto light sensor in the BIOS too so my RGB LED screen won't adjust its brightness and contrast automatically. Got to fix the crackling sound in the speakers next (from what I read here, it's just removing the driver). Other than that, I'm loving it so far! ^_^ I spent the day using its power adapter to charge up my old Inspiron 9400 batteries though since my old power adapter died and my newer smaller Dell adapters couldn't charge the higher powered battery of the 9400. Will get back to the 6500 tomorrow and install Windows 7 Pro instead of the default Windows XP Pro that it came with.

A month of the waiting was when I had no order at all....just waiting for Dell to come out with USB 3.0 on that unit. Yep....it's been a pipe dream so long it still hasn't sunk in yet.....LOL I never lost the faith and did something like order a Stinkpad LOL

PS: I've complained with them....I did get a good deal though so it makes it easier. I'm a small one/two person company and have no clout with them other than a regular off the street customer.

If it's anything like my m4400 I will love it. Btw, if I would have stayed with my original order, I would have recieved on 2.5.10....I looked back...much time waiting on USB change. I've formed a very close bond with my Vostro 1220 LOL

I have a problem with my 2nd HD.
I just install it, I see it on the BIOS even Windows recognize it (I got a message on the task bar about new hardware been installed). The problem is that I can't see it under "My Computer" I just see my primary drive. I know I need to format it but I just don't know how.

Any thoughts what is the problem?

EDIT: Nevermind, I just google it. DOH!

Finally I got my M6500 after been waiting for a month, and just now I'm done with all the upgrades, the clean install and almost all the software.

It's incredible how fast this laptop is. I never used a computer that opens every program in just a blink.

Yes. Nikon D300 and Canon point and shoot recognized and working fine as USB 2 w/3 enabled.

Yes it is. Don't judge the screen from this pic though as indoor lighting and point and shoot cam don't make for a good representation re: working in Lightroom. Earlier this evening I did pull out a GM Xrite color chart and loading a pro photo and an aRGB version of same chart showed a very good match between chart and images on screen, basically for adobe apps.

I was actually impressed with it, I'm looking at it with a terrible economy dell monitor right now and the colors look really good compared to everything else i look at with this monitor. sweet seat belt chair btw :)
