Check the link in the above post. You can change the battery, but you do have to take the bottom panel off! That would be too much of a hassle for me personally. I think that's the single biggest drawback to this unit since the battery life itself it not great.

hmm, lookinng over that page more carefully, i now realize the keyboard has to be taken off first. I first thought that unscrewing the bottom would give access to the HDD, RAM, battery, etc.

It's just too bad, I guess. I've never considered getting a Mac because the battery was not user-replaceable (plus I'd never use OSX). Still, Mac batteries easily last for two years or so and continue to hold at least a minimum charge for 3 years, at which point $129 for battery replacement isn't bad. My Inspirong e1405's battery was dead in 2 years flat, and would not hold a charge at all, so unplugging it even for a second to move it to a different position would turn it off completely.

That's what I'm afraid of with the VV13 two years down the road, especially since the battery life on it is weak to begin with.

EDIT: how much does it cost to send the V13 for batt replacement to Dell in the US? It wouldn't be covered under the warranty since it's normal wear and tear, so if it's $150 or so, shipping included, that wouldn't be terribly high since the purchase price would be $550 or so.

How did yours break? I woke up this morning to find that the screen has become all smeared in the top left corner. It never leaves the couch and I always treated it gently. And Dell is saying that it isnt covered under warranty. This is crap!

I'm warm to the form of this laptop but I'm a bit concerned having never used ULV procesor other than a notebook with windows 7 which I promptly got rid.

What I'm asking is how is windows 7 on this compared to say a low end dual core I'm currently running vista on (1.83ghz)

My V13 has a webcam and I got it from the Outlet but it was considered new. My suggestion is to keep checking as they (V13 ans L13) are popular so inventory should update somewhat.

As for coupons there's a thread just for that http://forum.notebookreview.com/not...1526-dell-outlet-coupons-189.html#post6445180 and that gets updated constantly. :)
