So our company just rolled out new laptops for the group, and they appear to be 17" Dell Precision 6600's with Core i7 2820s, Quadro 3000M, 8GB DDR3, 256GB SSD drives and a docking station.

Anyhow, for the first few days they worked really well, but then last Friday several of our group's laptops - including my own - began freaking out.

We all began having psychadelic colors, individual pixel noise across the screen, vanishing sections of the screen and flickering. Eventually during these psychotic events we'd get an Nvidia driver crashed and recovered popup from the task bar. Note - we are using Nvidia driver 268.83 which I believe is stock from Dell's site.

Anyhow, my system was so bad that it was practically unsuable, and would eventually bluescreen. After some trial and error I discovered unplugging my 2nd monitor would improve - though not fully fix - the issue. It is a VGA Dell 21" 1920x1200 resolution monitor. This also seemed to improve - but not fix - the rest of our group's issues.

The ultimate fix? Just not using the docking station. So far our systems appear to be stable even when using a 2nd monitor, so long as we are not on the docking station. Note - everyone in the group uses a different brand monitor.

Has anyone ever heard of something like this before? IT is not resolving it for us, so I thought I would post here for more options.

    Thanks!
