My child forgot her 11.5v Vostro power brick at school and thinks because my 19.5v Precision 6600 brick has the same size plug end that it should work to charge her Vostro. Not being an electrician I assured her that it would probably fry her VOSTRO. School work will likely be late.

Teens don't want to believe a father's word these days. Any help on yes or no?

    Thanks in advance.

If the tip is the same it'll work. All Dell chargers made in the last half a decade are basically interchangeable (save for a couple specialty models). A note about wattage: the lower wattage brick of the Vostro (what model?) won't power your M6600, but the higher warranty brick of the M6600 won't have any problems powering the Vostro.

    Great news, thanks, CWolf.

I was able to determine the kid's Vostro 3450 comes with either a 65W or 90W power supply unit. These were just distributed to the entire class at our high school and I have not been able to even check the specs because she already drained the battery.

The Precision 6600 is a 240W power unit that powers itself up when needed from 120W to 240W depending on demand (CAD renderings, ray-tracing, etc Nvidia M3000 2GB DDR5) is my understanding.

    Your response is appreciated.

There should be no problems in using the M6600 power brick on the Vostro system.
