I'm trying to understand the options available for a secondary hard drive on the Precision M4400. When configuring a new M4400, a 'Second Hard Drive' option is shown, but the only options are either a 120GB 5400rpm HD 'E-Module' or 64GB SSD 'E-Module'. It also says the following:
    Here are my questions:
    1) What does the 'E-Module' after the 120GB HD and 64GB SSD mean?
    2) What is the Exterenal E-Modular Bay mentioned? A docking station or similar?
    3) Could these options also apply to a Latitude E6500, although not offered directly from Dell?

Thanks for any help you guys can offer!

The E-module means that it is to be used in the modular bay of the latitudes and precisions. The Modular Bay is usually occupied by the DVD player/writer but can be replaced with a 1,8" HDD. If you look elsewhere in the forum you find that there is also a caddy for 2,5" HDD's which fits the modualr bay so the faster and larger 2,5" HDD's can also be used as a 2nd HDD

Can the E6400 also be fitted with a 2.5'' HDD in this way? I'd be considerably interested in it if it could.

Yes. See that other thread - it was first tried in the E6400 but should work with the other E series and precisions which use the new 9.5mm high bay.
