Dell is offering to replace my motherboard as they can't figure out the problem. Has anyone had a motherboard replacement and been happy with the results. I am worried about my laptop going back together the same way it is now. My M4400 is pristine.

Dear owner of M4400 with QX9300 2.53Ghz processor,

May you please kindly check your CPU spec using CPUID.

    Download "CPU-Z" here: http://www.cpuid.com/cpuz.php

I would like to know, why my Processor Name is "Core 2 Quad T9400" but not "Core 2 Quad QX9300".
Under the Specification stated "Core 2 Extreme CPU Q9300" but not "Core 2 Quad QX9300".

Please also check the reading under "Clocks"

Are the other owner of M4400 with QX9300 feature the same reading as mine?

I greatly appreciate if you may kindly provide a screenshot of the above Processor reading, thanks in advance.

Yes, CPU-Z reports the wrong model.

Also, the lower clock is when SpeedStep has kicked in.

Under load, CPU-Z reports my clocks as 2527.1MHz

Also, check out the Intel Processor ID utility in my screenshot - it identifies the CPU correctly.

Thank you very much ofelas ;-)

How do I disable SpeedStep so my Core Speed can run at the original 2.53Ghz?

Anyone who have 1920X1200 WUXGA RGBLED screen , may you please kindly please check your Hardware ID under "Device Manager">"Monitor">"P&P Monitor">"Details tab">Hardware ID

Mine is "SEC5443", wasn't this a CCFL screen? but I ordered RGBLED......

    Thanks in advance.

    SpeedStep is a good thing.
When your computer needs the extra processing power, it will automatically clock up to higher speeds.
When you are just doing normal tasks, it clocks down to reduce the heat (& battery drain if you're not plugged in).
I started multiple virus scans so my CPU would clock up to take the screenshot for you.
SpeedStep is automatic - low speed when not doing anything intensive, and high speed instantly when needed.
If you want to run at high speed all the time, your system will run hot & the fans will spin on "Loud" all the time.
    Hope that helped.
