I'm testing the following M4500 and the screen goes black about 15 seconds after boot-up and the desktop appears and everything is supposed to loaded. The black screen lasts for about a second as if it's loading something after the fact.

    Mobile Precision M4500
    Intel Core i7-940XM Quad Core 2.13GHz 8MB
    4.0GB, DDR3-1333 SDRAM, 2 DIMM
NVIDIA Quadro FX 1800M Graphics with 1GB2
64GB Dell Solid State Minicard for dual drive set up
    500G 7200RPM SATA 2nd Hard Drive,M4500
Dell Wireless 375 Bluetooth Module, Dell Latitude E

This is the second machine they've sent me and both have had the same issue. It seems to only happen that one time 10-15 seconds after boot-up, but when I want to open something and start typing, it get's pretty annoying having everything go black when I want to start something.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks

So nobody knows anything about this? Is this the wrong place to come to?

Not necessarily the wrong place to ask, but you need to wait at least a day to give people a chance to respond.

My guess is that the temporary blackness is caused by the graphics driver doing some housekeeping.

That is most likely cause by the dell control point manager (the thing that gives you the onscreen indicators for screen brightness and volume). Mine does the same but if you uninstall DCP the flicker goes away.. But you also loose the onscreen display stuff.

Uninstall dell control point then report back to us your results.

    Tom.
