I ordered my new Latitude E6400 with a 160GB 7200 RPM drive with free fall sensor. I got a 160GB Hitachi Travelstar 7K320 HTS723216L9A362. I tried to look up specs on this model but I couldn't find it on Hitachi's site. Only models that ended in 360 were listed. I believe the last digit (2) stands for a drive with free fall sensor. It seems that these drives are only available to OEMs for now.

The drive is quite loud but I have yet to come across a 7200 RPM drive that isn't.

That's because GPU acceleration in 64 OS is only supported in Vista 64, not XP 64.

I just ordered the Vista upgrade for my XP 64 bit just because of that.

Guys can someone tell me if i can install a QX9300 cpu into any laptop that has this socket? For example, will it work in Studio XPS 13 or 16 with Montevina platform? Thanks

OS on RAID 1 and temp files RAID 0.
RAID 0 should be on primary partitions for faster access. But OS needs to be on primary.

At least there will be a balance between slower RAID 1 on faster primary and much faster RAID 0 on secondary.

I use to use Tom's Hardware in the 90's but it became so inefficient to use. Could you post the comparison link as I was unable to find it. Thanks.

Dell says their M6400 can handle 1TB which I assume means dual 500GB but they offer neither the 5400rpm nor 7200rpm.

Thanks for the link. Very useful review.

Historically I have a preference for Seagate but things can change fast.

Using battery power it looks like the WD would be better as I'm less likely to be doing full load type activities. But these are small power differences compared to the entire system (CPU/GPU).
