    Hi all,

I just purchased the M6600 refurbished from ebay, the machine is great, however there are few scrathes on the screen cover(lid). Nothing major but I would like to replace it if the cost is reasonable.

The issue is that I looked on the internet and ebay and could not find any supplier having the cover in their offer. The Dell offer is very limited, no real parts on their website, only accessories.

I am wondering if anyone here had a similar issue and had any success in finding a reliable supplier.

    Thank you,
    Tripp

There should still be warranty. Best if you hit up Dell chat.

That. There are currently no solid vendors on the internet that sells these lids and Dell Spare Parts will sell you one that is "refurbished" for $125 USD. So you are better off using that warranty.

Zergslayer69, Star Forge, thank you for your replies. I called Dell Canada and since the machine was "manufacturer refurbished" the warranty does not cover cosmetic issues.

I succceeded to find a supplier for the lid. In case someone else will need it, just search for "LCD Cover Assembly of Dell Precision M6600 Mobile Workstation". The first result is the only company having it.

    All the best,
    Tripp

Is it from that one site from China? Let me know how it goes because I was tempted of using them but their long international shipping time could be a detractor.

Would only be under warranty if it had complete care. Normal warranty does not cover cosmetic fixes.

Hmm, my 6600 came dented in and warped and they were willing to send out a tech. Wouldn't that be considered cosmetic?

If it came all warped and stuff out of the box, you can make a convincing case for them to fix it. That is how I deal with my issues of my systems. As long they aren't scratches and dents, they will comply to fixing it.

Complete care doesn't really cover cosmetic damage either. I found this out the hard way...

The only way it could be covered is if that damage causes issue with the system itself :/ It also depends on the agent you get too :)
