Thanks for the info! I was just hoping that there might be an easy solution for all LCD type changers regardless of the laptop manufacturer. It would have been too nice.

can I do this on my Vostro 1400? I want to interchange the LCD from my Dell Inspiron 14 which has HD LED LCD. Im worrying about the inverter, it might screw up if i tried to interchange the LCD. Has anyone tried replacing a Vostro1400 LCD into HD-LED LCD?

Anyone have experience with the LP141WP2-TLA2 screen? Its the glossy version of the LG Phillips LP141WP2-TLA1 1440x900 WXGA+ Matte Screen that shipped with my E6400.

Anyone tried changing to a glossy screen?

    Hi!
Thanks a lot for this post.
My e6400 display is broken (it is flickering) and I found this site to unmount it.

I found the display you mentioned here.

My question to you: do I need any more cables to connect it? The screen I have is a 1280 x 800 screen and seems to be the CCFL, right? (it is matt). Is this LED screen better than the original CCFL?
    Thanks!

Probably the best guide to disassembly is Dell's own service manual.

The LED backlit displays are superior because the LED backlights are more power efficient (brighter and / or lower power consumption) than the CCFL backlight. Also, they lack the relatively unreliable inverter needed for CCFL backlighting (plus the tube goes darker with age).

Reading the first page of this thread shows (i) you need a different cable for the LED backlit displays and (ii) you may have to make some improvisations to get the LED backlit display to fit comfortably with the lid / bezel provided for a CCFL backlit display. However, it can be done.

And, personally, if I were changing the display, I would look for WXGA+ (1440 x 900) resolution. The extra real estate is welcome without the pixels becoming too small.

    John

    Hi John, thanks.

How do I know which video cable I need?

It's the one for the LED backlit displays, but I don't know more than that.

CCFL and LED LVDS connector cables are different.

Looks like Fleabay yields some answers. RK088 is P/N

Have you called Dell yet? Your E6400 should still be covered by warranty, and Dell would fix this under warranty.
