Actually, I was giving that link as more of a reference. That auction does not look to be the right part, there's a discrepancy between the title and description and part #. It is actually a CCFL inverter, they typed LED instead of LCD in the title. Please see if the seller can cancel your purchase before they send it out.

So your new screen did not come with an inverter (actually, LED screens don't need an inverter)? Because it has that connector on the lower right corner, it's a CCFL panel. Purchasing the screen and inverter seperately is dangerous, there are multiple types as you have experienced. Here's a pic of the connector:

And here's a picture of my LED screen:

Thanks a lot for the information … but now I'm confused.
    I bought this panel:

LG LP141WP2-TLA1 14.1"WXGA Matte laptop LCD screens DELL E64OO

What is the inverter for anyway? So I don't need the inverter?
Should I still cancel the order?
    What do you recommend?

    Thanks a lot!

Sorry to confuse you...I just realized this morning that I had been confused. Here's a summary: the WXGA screen for E6400 is not LED-backlit, only the WXGA+ screen is. LP141WP2-TLA1 looks to be the WXGA+ LED panel, but that screen shouldn't have a backlight power connector on the lower right corner.

What does it say on the back of the panel? Is it the right part?

Yes, you should cancel the order for the inverter. It's too expensive, and either way, I don't think it's the right part.

LED screens do not have an inverter.

The inverter is converting low voltage to high voltage, because CCFL's need high voltage to work.
LED backlit works fine with low voltage (3.3 or 5v), and thus, an inverter is worthless. These voltages are already available in the computer. (this plays a big role in the efficiently of LED screens)

Moving on, an CCFL screen needs an 2-pin power connector plus an 30-pin LVDS cable. A LED screen needs only 40pin LVDS cable (the cable includes power).

Hm … so what could I conclude?
Do I have the wrong panel?

The thing is: If I shine a light on my dark screen, I can see everything, it's just that there is no backlight.

Yes, check the label on the back of the panel and let us know what it says. I think they sent you a CCFL panel.

    Thanks everybody, and especially Robin24k!
Finally I got this inverter from the post http://forum.notebookreview.com/del...aded-e6400-ccfl-led-screen-3.html#post7493601 and a week later I replaced the old one with this.
And it was the correct one!

So, now my display is working again!
Resolution is a bit too high, so I scaled it down, and the display is darker than my old one, but I'm fine with that. And it is reflecting, which is worse than my old "blurred"(?) one.

Thanks to everybody for the great und unexpected support!

If that made it work...you just upgraded your CCFL screen to, well, another CCFL screen.

To be honest, you really should've returned the screen you bought...
