Thank you all. The part number is useful. Pity that I am in Germany and they want me 100 $ for that here ))) I'll try America.

I got it as a second hand laptop from Harlander (Germany) and I had one year warranty, which is over. I called tell and they wanted me tell them the Service Tag, but it has somehow been erased - it is 0000000 (also in the BIOS where you can find it). I don't have the original purchaser's customer number, so they could/would not help me. :( I'm happy for the support on this forum!

I have found the itemd rk088 and rk149 at ebay in UK!
I know that in Poland is a factory, and some people there seem to have relations or so.

I believe that Dell sold the Poland factory and moved all their assembly to China. My E4300 (2009) is marked "made in Poland" but my E6410 is marked "made in China". both are UK models. There may still, however, be some Dell parts in Europe left over from the Poland assembly line.

    Results:

    I bought this panel:
LG LP141WP2-TLA1 14.1WXGA Matte laptop LCD screens DELL E64OO [LP141WP2-TLA1] - €88.88 : Laptop akku, Notebook Akku, Werkzeug Akkus, Laptop Tastatur, Camera Akku, GPS Akku

    I bought this video cable:
    eBay Österreich: Dell Latitude E6400 LCD Cable /Harness DC0200HZ0L RK088 (Artikel 330487286713 endet 13.02.11 13:32:17 MEZ)

    And I bought this bezel:
Dell Latitude E6400 LCD Bezel - RK149 on eBay (end time 18-Feb-11 10:54:34 GMT)

I could use my old bezel, the panel fit in there.
The video cable did not fit my video card, so I tried the old cable – I think it also fit.

The problem was the panel itself:
apart from the video cable, there is yet another metal connector: My old panel was connected with a metal part to something - it was attached to the inner of the panel.
At the new panel, this place was covered, and instead a white plastic adapter was attached to the panel, probably for the same purpose - only that I could not plug it in anywhere on my laptop.
So now I have a new panel in my laptop and can't use it at all - only the external monitor! :-( ;-)

    Any experience alike?

Which part of the cable didn't fit, was it on the LCD side or the motherboard side? All of the parts seem correct...

    This is my old monitor:

    The cable:

Instead of the angular "cable", the new monitor (which I cannot take a picture of now) has a plug which I cannot connect to anywhere at the notebook.

    :(

Only one connector is required for the LED LCD. When I replaced the screen on my E6400, there was only one connection to the LCD (the webcam/microphone cable runs behind the LCD assembly).

I've never seen a second ribbon cable, what was it connected to before? Service manuals don't indicate it either, the CCFL screen should only have two connections: inverter and display cable.

Today I noticed (always working with my lid half-closed on an external monitor) that the laptop is actually displaying the data, but with no back light!

    What does that mean?

Are you using your old cable, or the new LED LCD cable? You cannot use your CCFL cable, it has an inverter on it, which cannot be used with an LED panel.

Hm … I guess this cable should light the back light …
How can I plug it in?
The white adapter comes directly out from the panel and cannot be accessed without damaging the panel.

See the above pictures for my old panel, with the right-angled wire, which went into the part to the left of the white adapter in the picture below …

    Thanks for your help!
(And sorry for this big picture.)

The white connector should be attached to the inverter below the LCD. Are you using the old inverter with the new screen? Did the LED LCD not come with an inverter?

There are two cables to be connected when replacing the LCD. The large connector behind the LCD, and the small white plastic connector on the inverter. There are no ribbon cables to mess with, although it sounds like your original CCFL display used a ribbon cable instead of the plastic connector for the inverter. This shouldn't be a problem though, as you should not be using the old inverter anyways.

Your LED LCD inverter should look like this:

    http://cgi.ebay.com/190530295673

Note the white plastic connector on the right side (left side in the picture). It provides the power for the backlight, and since you don't have it connected, that's why the screen is dark.

Also, please resize your picture...I'm having to do a lot of scrolling. :p
