Rarely does anyone pay list price for those things. Usually you get a big discount if you buy a support package with it.

I got the impression the OP doesn't really care and may have been distracted by something shiny. I think it's safe to amuse to that most of the rest of us reading this board understand the value of a business class laptop.

Or it's safe to assume that most of us have owned a business laptop.

you can get up to 5 year warranty (next business day, onsite, prosupport if you want, 4 hour response time if you want) on any dell computer, including consumer grade as long as you ask the sales rep for it and are willing to pay for it.

normally the 3 year warranties are not too expensive, but the 4 hour response time 24/7 support options are ridiculously expensive as they are targetted mainly towards servers.

the XPS series used to come with 24/7 phone support, NBD onsite.

    Oops.
spell check warning > right click > replace with first option w/o reading it

    Also, I haven't owned a business laptop...yet. I may own a M4400 or M4500 in the near future though.

$3700 is exxxxxxpensssssive; typically business laptops are sub $2000.
And worth it. I buy business laptops because consumer laptops with the business laptop options get to be more expensive after the upgrades.
    Upgrades:
    3 year warranty
    WUXGA screen
    Completecare
    GPU
    XP Pro

The superior build quality usually turns out to be "gratis" :D

couldnt agree more. usually after adding all the extras to make them similar, the price is almost the same and the better build quality more than makes up for picking the business class one

lol. i love the dell 3 year onsite warranty. the prosupport one is even better too, you get to speak to actual intelligent life forms on the other end of the line.
