    ok so if my HDD is fine, then it means:
    - Bug in Windows Experience Index which miss evaluate the score.
    - Although every looks good, I don't get the full speed due to teh lack of official Windows 7 drivers, which screws up the score, and, hence explains why the system is not AS fast as people claim to be. I'll try Windows 7 on a different system and see.

    Are you guys seeing the huge gain in battery life as well? I'm practically getting an extra hour.

    It seems my file system somehow got screwed bei W7. While extracting a .rar-file yesterday I suddenly got a message stating some of the files couldn't be extracted. When trying again I got a message my file system is defect.
    I ran checkdisk several times, it repaired quite a lot. I still don't dare to boot W7 again though as it somehow effected my Vista install on another partition, too.
    Everything was laggy, graphic elements didn't disappear and hovered in the same place all the time, the taskbar didn't show any programs that were running, FTP upload wasn't working.
    After more checkdisk running and several reboots (to Vista) it now seems to work again.
    As always when something finally works very fine for me, this doesn't last very long. :(

    @wasabah

    Did you install any drivers in compatibility mode?

    I'm running W7 and Server 2008R2 without any issues.

    I did not install BT. (it requires compatibility mode)

    @SpeedyMods
    I probably get somewhere between 1-2 hours extra depending on what I do.
    Using Word, battery life is estimated to 8-9 hours.
    Using VMWare it drops considerably but I expect 4-6 hours depending on number of guests.

    I started the BT install, but as I started the install 7 picked up the drivers by itself, so I cancelled (it wasn't in the process of installing, I just opened the installer) I have BT now, and no Dell interface. You could probably get BT to install by using the device manager to point it to the folder with the drivers in it.

    My fan is running a lot less now. I leave my computer on overnight playing music, and every 45 minutes or so the fan used to kick into high speed for about 4 minutes, now it stays on low.

    Did anyone get an E6400 fully functional with Windows 7 Beta? Printers? Is the Beta stable?

    I don't install much (all is going into VM's) so no, I haven't installed much into W7. TrueImage 11 works + some small utilities.
    But as VMWare is working, I would say that it's stable for me.

    No issues so far, but it is a beta so don't be surprised if one of your apps won't work.

    Got everything working on my studio 15. All the Vista drivers work.

    Edit: One minor thing. Everything else for quickset shows up, such as backlit keyboard and changing the brightness, however, when you change the volume, the quickset volume meter does not show up like in Vista. Also, gadgets will not work with UAC disabled. Just a small glitch.

    For me everything works except the on screen volume indicator. That isn't a big deal for me, so I simple uninstalled ControlPoint (the battery gains in 7 made it less appealing, I can't see it making as much of a difference now).

    Everything else works just fine, all drivers work, and as far as I can tell, even Bluetooth works. My printer installed normally (it's a networked HP C7280) and Wi-fi works just fine.

    The only app that doesn't work as it did in Vista is Roxio, the updates will not install citing that they do not have permission to write in a directory.
