Aaargh I have been beat! Need to get me to a colder country with a fewer lady boys. However, running The Witcher 2 maxed out is an absolute spectacle.

The Revelator Notebook Prophet
@svl7 - There is no doubt you'll get there. Aikimox is expecting a new shipment of AMD 6970M's this week, so I'll probably be chasing you up there soon and leave the 5850m benching behind.
-
Hehe, cool!! Too bad I still had no luck with overvolting the 6970m... 5850m benching is really a lot of fun!
@widezu: Did you ever try to overvolt your card?
Edit: I hope Dane gets around to update this thread soon, it's way overdue now -
The Revelator Notebook Prophet
It is long overdue and would be very welcome. Dane was planning on updating it last weekend, but must have gotten distracted. It's a tough job.
-
sorry i bribed Dane so now he'll never update the scores, hahahah
-
Hey guys, the first post of this thread - the list with the best scores - should get updated.
Please PM the link to your post to DaneGRClose in case you have a score that goes in the top five of any of the categories in the first post!!!!
I already sent him the scores of Lacey, migualo, widezu69 and a run of DraZziW, so no need to send those again.
Also a request to the 6970m owners: Start benching your machines
There will be a 6970m category on the first page as long as there are enough 6970m results!
Keep the scores coming! The latest drivers (Nvidia and especially AMD) perform significantly better than older ones.
Time to break some of the old records -
Bring it

Will do some benchmarks soon!
-
P2854
This is my benchmark with 3dmark 11. Im running GPU at 710/930 1v. And Cpu is stock.
Im wondering. If you can run through a whole benchmark in 3dmark 11 does that mean you have stable clocks?Attached Files:
-
-
I'm not 100% sure, I guess the GPU could get pushed harder since it runs at a smaller resolution than the native screen res. (in performance mode) , but it's definitely a good indicator as long as you don't get artifacts. -
-
Hello there..
I have the M15X:
I7 720
ATI 5850 "standard clocks"
4 GB DDR 3 RAM
Intel SSD
I only get about 800 point in 3dmark 11 in 1080, is that normal ??
And yes, stealth mode is off ? -
You should run 3dmark11 at 720p which is the default test everyone is using to compare.
-
-
Cool, let us know in the M15x benchmark thread, post some nice scores!
And remember to PM DaneGRClose when you got a high score, send him the link so he can add you to the list.

The Revelator Notebook Prophet
@Crelle - select the Performance Preset (1280x720) on the Basic Tab or Advanced Tab. Do not make any changes in the settings on the Advanced Tab, except that Scaling Mode can be toggled to your preference. Otherwise run with all settings at default. You can probably expect a result around P2200 +/- with a 720QM/5850M combination at stock clocks, but the score can be influenced by a number of factors.
-
Hey,
When I use AMD Clock Tool, and presh the default clocks, then it says:
405 / 1000 ehmm ??? -
And yes, powerplay is maxmimum :/
-
Are you on battery? Or is stealth active (no idea about the stealth clocks though)? Is your vbios stock?
Anyway, imo the best overclocking app for the 5850m is Trixx, give it a try. -
Hi everybody..I have just joined the forum. A few months ago I bought a new M15X with what I thought was a good spec. for gaming and specially "Second Life". I configured it to include an i7 Q740 @ 1.73 Ghz, 4 Gb RAM and an ATI HD5850 graphics card, 64bit Win 7. I expected a blistering fast performance and I was disappointed. I have a lesser spec desktop (Core 2 Quad Q8200, 3 GB RAM and an ATI HD4890 card, 32 bit Win 7) which outperforms my laptop. I decided to do a test using PC Mark7 with the following results: Desktop 1689 Vs laptop 1274. Am I expecting too much? Is there a benchmark std. value that I can use to determine if my laptop is up to speed?
-
Well, you can't really compare desktop parts to mobile parts. They can use much more power and have generally a more efficient cooling.
I'm not familiar with PC Mark, but I can tell you, that the 5850m is a pretty good mobile GPU. With a slight overclock you can get even better performance.
You could run a 3dMark Vantage or 3dMark11 and post the result here, then we can easily tell you whether your system performs as it should or not. -
-
Nice!! You can get 14k 3dM06 I guess.
Now what about vantage? I'm sure you can get the top spot there as well!
And don't forget to PM the link to this post to DaneGRClose, so he can include your score in the list! -
EDIT: vantage runs are going to tough to blow away i might get lucky and best the top score but not by much two runs have yielded identical P6990 scores =( -
Cool! Yeah, with setFSB you'll be able to get 14k easily, it's very CPU depending, 3dMark06.
Don't forget to disable PhysX for the Vantage runs (Though I think in the latest version it's disabled by default) -
-
-
It certainly does! Great job! Let Dane know and he'll put your score to the top!
I never did some benching with my 260m, maybe I should try it sometime, the card is still laying around. I wonder what the limits are when you modify the vbios. -
-
Shouldn't be too difficult for you if you have experience with flashing AMD cards. For flashing use NVflash, just put it on a DOS bootable USB drive and boot from it.
To back up your original vbios use the following command:
Code:nvflash -b orig260m.rom
Code:nvflash -5 -6 filename.rom
-
-
wow impressive 260m scores, nice going cleverpseudoym.
-
does benching in 720p really make such a diffrence compaired to 1080p? also Physx too?
-
yes the screen res does effect the scores greatly. but everyone here use the default settings for benching. phsyX effect the cpu score because it using the gpu to help with cpu calculations, so you get why over blown cpu scores.

Here's the direct download link for the latest ATI driver, thank goes to The Rev for posting it:

i doubt its a power draw issue, since you only have the 720 atm, the 240 watts doesn't really help much, since both draw around the same amount of power. my max power draw for both was around 190 watts. but the higher wattage psu maintain a cooler temp during intensive runs.
-
You can put my scores up on the first page.
Im uploading 2 pictures. One is with the i5 M430 cpu. And the other is right after i replaced it with an i7 820QM cpu.Attached Files:

@MrValle: You have to PM DaneGRClose and send him the link.
Nice start. Is this with the card undervolted? -
-
That's pretty cool, undervolt and a slight overclock. Awesome.

DaneGRClose Notebook Virtuoso
A much needed update to the scores will be up no later than friday, I am also adding a 6970m category as we now have more of them coming to the benching table. Keep spilling the bench blood guys, scores are looking great!
-
6970m ftw! -
-
DaneGRClose Notebook Virtuoso
Your card has adjustable voltage on it Widezu69? If so you have a VERY VERY rare bird there, additional shaders and adjustable voltages is a complete 1 off on the 6970m, none of them have adjustable voltages.
-
But widezu has yet to try overvolting with his special ES card, you're right... he promised me to try -
That promise is still pending. I'm not risking nothing whilst in Thailand. Having trouble keeping idle temps under 55 as ambient here is around 37 :S
-
i should be getting a 2820qm next week, so be prepare to battle Dane, i'm bringing it. hahahah
widezu better bring it too, i'm taking your 1120 shader down!!! -
You probably can. Thing is buggy as hell at high clocks. Need to get my Water Cooling mod under way to pwn all your asses.
