Sorry widezu69, I did the update pretty late last night and the numbers and code start to run after a while  Your on the board now, updated to the top of the vantage/6970, top vantage gpu, and top vantage cpu lists. Again guys I'm not perfect, 2 1/2 months of scores start to run so if I missed something let me know. Thanks!

I did some tweaks on my Windows registry and got some pretty good scores on my Crucial C300 256GB SSD. Check it out! :D

Thanks Dane for the laborious job you're doing mate.

LOL, I shot you a PM on a way that makes it a bit easier doing updates after long periods of time DR650. Honestly if you hadn't made such a great layout it would probably be a simple unformated mess lol. I'm making another update due to some forgotten scores guys

Another thing guys I need to know what you'd all like to see in the SSD section as far as tests and how to track them? Crystal disk mark is kind of a given but with 8 scores in that thread we have to find a way to narrow it down, maybe average read and average write across each 4 tests on read and write or.....? Throw some ideas out there guys, this is a democracy not a dictatorship ;)

Whoa. These 6970M's love 3dMark06. You can question the relevance of the DX9 benchmark to the current gaming world, but it's still fun to watch the high frame rates and pull the big numbers. Guys, all you need to do right now to make the 6970M leaderboard(s) is show up, run the benchmark and submit your score. Plenty of open slots -- join the party.

    3dMark06 -- 20,876 (6970M/920xm)

Congrats, great run! Dell card seems to work very well!!

Thanks. The Dell card is working reasonably well, and I'm certainly enjoying it, but there are integration and/or driver glitches from time to time, with lockups and black screens. Probably most can be cured or avoided with proper setup adjustments, but I haven't figured them out yet. The most annoying is that periodically the screen will just go dark, seemingly unrelated to anything happening at the time, i.e., no stress, nothing intense or power hungry. It just goes black, and I've found no way to get it back, except a hard shutdown and restart. This may be an 11.6 driver problem; it seems to be happening to others as well, but the randomness makes it hard to test.

If I'm currently ahead on some board, it won't last long once you get your 6970m back in action. Any progress?

Never had this issue with 11.5, and I didn't test 11.6 a lot before I bricked my card, but never noticed this.

Yeah, Kris can reprogramm the card for a reasonable price, but somehow I want to try it myself, could come in handy, having a programmer which can do it.
The only problem is that they're pretty expensive or need a LPT cable (I have no system with such a connector).
I've found a pretty cheap programmer on ebay which may work, even though the IC isn't listed there, probably I'm going to try this.
But first of all I'll check whether there's such a programmer at the university in the lab, or maybe a friend of mine has access to a programmer where he works.

But I should be studying at the moment, not benching... so it doesn't really hurry

LPT cable? as in the old fat printer ports?

Thanks, svl7. Hope that happens soon, but you have plenty of time. Planning to give it a rest from benching. This card has given me all I ever expected -- 4K+ in 3dMark11; 15K+ in Vantage and 20K+ in 06, and all rather easily. No sense in abusing it for small marginal gains, unless boredom or some killer driver appears. LOL.

Yeah, true... it's an amzing card for the M15x, even on stock clocks. I only wish it would be possible to adjust the voltage in the vbios.
I took a closer look on the card itself recently, but without the schematics it's pretty much impossible to try something hardcore like a VID mod or similar voltage mod. :) And it would probably kill my system anyway, hahaha, a voltage increas has a serious influence in the power draw... lol.

So true, but it would be interesting to see whether it works, especially for use in other systems. But without a schematic it's not easily achievable.

Just barely, and I had a goal to shoot for and the example of what can be done. Makes it a lot easier.

Inap, why selling the 2820? Find a reasonable deal/trade for a 2920? Would love to see that in the R3. If AW would offer one with M18x-level BIOS o/c'ing, I'd probably jump in even at an unreasonable price. Hear anything?

my wife is planning a family trip, so i need the cash more atm, didn't really have time to test out the 2820 yet, just installed it to see if it worked and it did, looks like it may have unlocked multies, but i guess the bios is locking it. no 2920 new for the r3 atm, which is a shame. i would glady pay for one if the bios didn't lock out all the fun.

geez you've seen the price for a 580m, holy cow!! being on the bleeding edge is sure expensive these days. kinda tempted to get that or the 6990, but the techs are so clueless, i'm having a super hard time just trying to get the price.

hopefully one of these dell techs will come through, i would try somewhere else but i'm pretty broke atm, so my dell dpa is the only way to afford one. hahaha

prolly one or the other, no way i can afford to get both. maybe the 580m to test since i'm pretty sure the 6990 would prolly work on the 15x. made i few local nbr friends that can help with testing in M15x.

Pricing on the 580m is ridiculous, makes the 6990m alot more appealing.
I don't think the numbers for the 580m will be all that different from those of the 485m, but who knows.
