Yeah, that's what I usually get as well, it's enough for a lot of benching runs and if you have spare dice blocks when you're done you can still make fun things with it, e.g. cool drinks, throw it in the pool of the neighbor and watch him go crazy when he sees that his pool is smoking :D etc., hahaha, it's up to your imagination!

LOL got ya all beat, the store I get mine from is about 2-3 blocks away from my house :D and at $0.49/lb I'm ready to dice it up anytime you guys want to throw a score out that rivals mine :D :D :D ;) Oh and Inap 10lbs of dice will melt on your rig in 2-4 hours depending on how you place it on your rig, this thing chews through the dice if you're really running it the whole time lol.

On another note, I'll get the scores updated by this weekend if everyone PM's me all of their scores :D Haven't really had anything much PM'ed to me since the last update.

It's pretty much improvised and doesn't need a lot of equipment... I always use some duct tape to prevent that pieces of dry ice get somewhere they shouldn't (PCB etc).

Then I cool the heatsinks/pipes. It's effective and easy... of course it would be fun having a pot and making a mix with alcohol and dice, but that's not necessary, and I don't have equipment (there's no such stuff available for notebooks, you'd have to make it yourself).

Here are some pics of the system and a box with dry ice pellets:

    Thanks!!!

Great idea, I know someone who can possibly do some CNC stuff for me, so I'm designing a heatsink... I guess while I'm at it I could create something for benching as well... hope it really works out in the end.

If I can make something I'll let you know, at least the screws for the heatsink have the same layout in all MXM 3.0 compliant systems.
Can't promise anything atm, first of all I have to see whether I can really get access to the CNC machine.

yeah i know a CNC guy too, actually its the dude that owns the viper i posted on TI. But don't really want to bother him with such a small job. I do have access to a 2 axis router but its very limited to what i can do with only 2 axis.

Yeah, a 2 axis router won't be of much use for something like this... Well, I'll see what I can do. Hope I can get at least the heatsink done.

Hey Inap, I made a quick sketch in Solidworks... I don't really know how to use it though, only the very basics... but somehow it already looks like it would be a lot of fun to use, what do you think? :D

    gpu mxm pot.JPG pot bottom.JPG

I quickly made some measuring on my spare heatsink, it should theoretically fit all MXM 3.0 GPUs, but it would probably require careful handling, as with the retention mod...

Hahaha, I don't think I'll get this milled... would need a massive copper block... way too expensive I guess. But I might just make it without the cylinder on it, (just the plate) and then solder/weld a piece of metal pipe to it.

But first of all I'll see that I can make a heatsink.

Yeah, I'll just use the heatpipes of a spare M15x heatsink, otherwise it's pretty much impossible I guess. I'll just design the plate.

i can get o2 free copper for free but would have to find a place to melt it down then someone would have to cad the design and send it to a mill. not totally our of the realm of possibilities but kind of a stretch.

Oh boy do I have some news! I think I have hit the all time high for the XM940/ GTX460m Combo. I just scored 17240 3dmark06 score and currently running vintage while I type this on my M11x which makes over 10K on 3dmark06 :D Long story shor I havent touched my M15x in about 3 weeks since I recieved my M11xr3. I just love the power and size of it. But seeing all these new bench scores I thought I would give it a try since my old scores were never put up on the board. These scores better this time!

I really hope the things you've said over your last couple comments are a joke KurtH. I updated that as a courtesy to you so you could see that but had absolutely nothing requiring me to do that. Do us all a favor and keep your discussion very general or stay on topic for notebooks only. I will do an update later tonight and hope to see your comments edited as there's no need for attitude or certain types of conversation on her. Good luck with the trip and be safe.

I understand nothing was directed towards any one person but there was a few comments made that may alienate some people which isn't the point of the forum, it's to bring people together and have fun with notebook related topics. I'll do an update after work and throw your cpu score on there for you. It's an awesome score by all means, congrats again.

Man even though I have an OEM 920XM, I can still never get 27x. All kinds of crashes. Oh well. My bumble-bee might be for sale soon now that 3D and 580m are in holy matrimony in the R3.

You need to slightly increase the core voltage, that should do the job, maybe 50mV more are enough fore 27x, 100mV should make it work for sure.
Edit: Actually I've never seen a 920xm handling 27x on all cores without increased voltage.
