No, the M6600 was released in the first half of 2011. The FirePro in question was released 2 years later. It was not a launch option.

And, I happen to have a 2720qm I just got to bump it up. My memory was running at 1333, and i was wondering why since this laptop SHOULD support 1600, but turns out its the mem controller on the i5! So a 2720 will give me full 1600 mhz, and i can use the other 2 dimm slots, because the i5 will only work 2. I'm excited.

For what? The top VRMs would have most heatsinks needing to be modded, and if it's anything like the older one, it can't handle high OCs

Hello, i have this Barebone: https://www.avadirect.com/W370ST-Co...TX-765M-Intel-GMA-HD-Graphics/Product/7884243
    With MXM-B (3.0) (105 x 82 mm) NVIDIA GTX765M...
I wanted to upgrade, which card can I put on it ???Let me know if I need to change the heatsink too...
Please, I really need to know, this model is old and I can not play much with Full HD graphics on its 17 "screen. :(
Sorry for my English, I came from far to ask for this support :hi:. Thanks in advance. :)

Are you sure it has a MXM GPU? If so, you can likely upgrade to a 970M without a heatsink change, and a 980M with one

If it's still not clear, you can't upgrade your GPU because it's soldered to the motherboard. Your GPU is not MXM.

In case anyone cares, M6100's can do XDMA crossfire (no bridge needed) and can use eDP.
I currently have a M6100 with the CFX connector and one without in my P377SMA, and while I can run GTA V and the GPUs seem to be both stressed, the CPU is throttling itself to 1.5GHZ (yes I'm on a 330W PSU) I'll keep updating this as I fix issues and kinks, but man no CFX cable needed....
Edit #1 fixed CPU throttle, GPU 2 has heavy throttling because of no paste, going to fix that
Edit #2 Downloaded Firestrike and ran that, it's scoring near a 970M (6205 in Firestrike, 7994 Graphics score, 9383 Physics score, which I think is pretty decent for these GPU's.)
Also, GTA V runs very well on these GPU's
Also, its the config in my signature if anyone is interested

Cool! Thanks for the heads up! I was waiting for someone with SLi/CF system to give XDMA a whril, nice to see it working.

This has given me a lot of hope for XDMA WX7100 (RX 480) and W7170M (M390X) crossfire, and even if it doesn't work, I can put them in my current laptops
Also, I tried XDMA CFX in my old dell 7010 and it worked perfectly with dual HD7770's

Not sure how that's even possible as the first generation GCN hardware did not support bridgeless CrossFire (XDMA debuted with Hawaii which was GCN 1.1). You sure it wasn't DX12 mGPU instead?

Woops never mind, hah it was crossfire with a bridge, my bad. My point is that it (the motherboard) didn't have crossfire support stated, but did have the necessary x16/x4 3.0 slots for the GPU's, so no chip on the motherboard is needed. Also, the M6100's are GCN 2

Howdy all. I'm using a HP 15 G3 zbook workstation with a m2000m Quadro. If I've done my homework right, I have a MXM 3.0a slot. I'm looking to see if I can upgrade it, but kinda lost if I am able to at least upgrade to a p2000m or a 1050ti. I can't seem to get Google to show me anyone who has done it successfully. Does it have to be a MXM 3.0a card or can a MXM 3.1a card work without some of the added features the 3.1 brings? I know I could always use an egpu, but would prefer something with the full bus width instead of TB3.

I think they are really similar in terms of dimensions. Pascal cards require edp panels or optimus

3.1=3.0 in terms of physical dimensions, but 3.1 are Pascal/Polaris and require eDP (1080p120hz or other non 1080p60hz resolutions)

I think 3.1 is referring to how the slot is wired rather than the physical dimensions of the PCB.

M3N970M-MN (Aetina 970M 6GB) up and running in my Clevo P170SM-A - screen in attachments
If you've got a Clevo, there's a high chance that 970M will work in most of models and they go for $200 USD plus shipping and eventual import fees/taxes. A new laptop with comparable 1050ti costs no less than $900USD and it's not swappable graphics.
Tried a reflowed ZOTAC 1060 MXM straight out of Zotac Magnus, but the laptop wouldn't pass POST nor display anything past the cpu model and speed. Also started to beep with flashing lock diodes and gpu fan on 100% which indicates issues with thermal signal, which the card possibly lacks and Clevo requires AFAIR.
Don't take it for granted it won't work in Clevo though, as the GPU itself might be faulty. I'll ask in Warsaw if anyone can diagnose and repair it professionally (bought it for like 90$) in sensible price and might be back with results.
Initially I thought the reflow might be the issue, so I repeated it in increased temperature and the R22 part fell off with the solder melted, lmao. I facepalmed hard on my stupidity.

Maxwell cards have already been proven compatible in the P17x series, thanks again for showing that these random Aetina cards are viable however.
As for the 1060 not posting, do you have a 120HZ panel or Optimus enabled? That is required for Pascal to post in older laptops IIRC

Optimus was enabled, panel is a regular 60Hz one.
I think the 1060 is gone beyond any repair though, baked it too much, lol.

    Hey everyone,

after I bricked my 970m I decided to give a chinese 1060 gtx from Ebay a try. It was ~320$ + 25$ shipping. Works with p751-dm.
No cooler modding or case modding needed. Only thing needed was inf modding for installing the drivers. Clocks like a regular 1060 gtx, Thermals are just like the 970m.
After having to deal with ****ty Dell notebooks at my workplace it feels great beeing able to be productive again. Thanks, I would not have tried this without this thread!

I work at a big University in Germany where we have to use certain Configurations. It drives me nuts that I am not allowed to repair/upgrade these Laptops and that they have really stupid bottlenecks. But to be fair My replacement for the last week had an 7200U Processor, so maybe bad to compare with a Laptop with a 6700k.

I created a post in the games section but maybe this is the best place to ask..I have a clevo p770zm-g with 4790k, gtx970m and 20 GB of RAM..for work reasons I need to use programs to create scenarios in VR so I I find forced to go to Pascal..I was saving to buy a clevo p870 when I discovered that they are out of the new mxm 3.0b cards that fit perfectly to my pc..Mount an LG Philips LP173WF4-SPD1 screen then with EDP (1920x1080 with g-sync) Currently I have the Prema bios also for the GPU..Is this operation feasible? Beyond the GPU, what should I change? Current adapter? Bios?
    Thanks for the answers :)
