You have 3 options for having a gtx1070 mxm 3.0b:
    - gecube

    - zotac

    -asrock

The last one is the best as it can OC fairly high (the non standard one)
The blue PCB only has 1920 cores of the desktop, but is still better than the Green PCB
The Black PCB model's seem to be average

Perfect! Is also the only one I found comfortable to buy on ebay
Fortunately I have the screen epd, I just have to see if there is a bios of prema that fits to p770zm or if it goes well that of -dm and maybe I also have take a 300W adapter
It would be nice if everything works

240W adapter should be fine, and yes a eDP screen is needed for the 1000 series.
Prema no longer hands out his BIOS's, but you might have luck contacting SVL7 (I forget his name) off the Forum's for his BIOS

I do not need to overclock the GPU
Next I have to keep downclock that hot warrior of the 4790k that reaches me absurd temperatures lol

Alright, so after finnally fixing my Ranger, I can confirm the AW 17 R1 with eDP 120HZ screen works with a K3000M and a 680M, 680M seems to need modded drivers however
Edit: My AW 17 R1 didn't post with the M6100/8950M, but my M6700 works perfectly with the 8950M (no modded Drivers, internal 60hz screen works)

I've tested 680M working well with AW 17 R1 120hz display as well. I think even 480M and 580M work as well.

AMD is for some reason hit and miss.

Did you get the 1070m to work in your p770zm? If yes, which 1070m did you grab and which mods were necessary to get it running?

As long as you have a eDP screen and you get a standard size 1070, there shouldn't be any hardware mods needed

But if I look at the three standard layout cards (GeCube, Zotac, ASRock) then at least a heatsink mod would be needed as the layout of the vRAM's and VRM's are completely different, right?

Does installing one of them require a special vBios? Prema vBios and Bios? An inf mod would be needed as well?

The best graphic card you can install on zbook15G3 is m2200 now. I've tried a lot for my clients. HP p2000m can't fit the laptop because it is MMX type B size.

Not really interested, its basically 780m level performance. m6100 is about 30% down from that iirc.

At this point Im just going to get the 1070 since its MXM 3.0b now and is confirmed to be working in the Precision 7710.

Found that m6800 with the w7170m and asked how he got it to work, this would be a huge upgrade for me i have the m6100, and the w7170 is way cheaper than a m4000m.

He likely just plugged it in, and presto! Magic! The big question is whether he has a eDP screen or not.

Personally, I wouldn't go for the W7170M, as it's performance is Between a 780M and 970M, but if thats all you can afford, it's a good enough card.

He said it was a direct swap to w7170m, only edp will work apparently, wonder if the seller knows that for sure, asked about fan control on the card but he didn't answer that question so alot is unknown about the w7170 or 390x. Looks like LVDS like myself are stuck on 780m, 970-980, or the mx000 cards.

Its a MXM B+ config sure, but its still MXM B compatible

The slot itself is MXM 3.0/3.1 is it not ? Everything else is semantics A and B determinations are based on dimensions.

Not saying either one of you is right. Heatsink compatibility is irrelevant to if something is MXM, and A/B designations are for standard sizes, of which this laptop is not.

MXM-B refers to the form factor, not the slot. His post was misleading.

MXM-B are two parts of a whole, and agreed the response was a bit short.

MXM being the port and B being the dimensions. Clevo still uses MXM but naturally the B is no longer present, B+ tending to be used in these forums to described for cards larger than the B form factor. Though to be honest I have no idea if thats any real official designation.

I should clarify, I didnt like your supporting point is all about heatsinks, not doubting your overall reasoning.

Should be interesting to see if the 980m works just as an experiment, not that I would ever push for such a scenario.

Because the only issue is having a compatible heatsink, which DM2 and onward don’t have since that is when Clevo changed the form factor. A 980M would work just fine if you fab a custom MXM-B heatsink.

So then in principle, mxm-b is also "correct" but like I hedged, only in principle. I wouldn't pursue that scenario as it kind of defeats the whole point if the laptop to begin with.

I don't think there are any successful examples of 3.0b GPUs installed in post-DM1 Clevos?

Physical size and firmware compatibility are bigger issues than slot electrics which seems not to be an issue outside of the 1.8V enable pin mod needed to get a Clevo 1080 working in the P870DM-G (by Mr.Fox)
