    Lenovo was actually the first OEM to start implementing it, and then Dell followed suite. Im not sure if Linkpads have it as well, but they started the implementation with the consumer models.
    BUT with Lenovo's there was still hope because of an UEFI bug.

    I really would like to know weather if a GTX1060m flavor can work in an MSI GT60 ivy bridge version. I know that the ivy bridge uses an lvd connector, so it must be a non gsync vbios version.

    Let me know. Thanks

    I've seen lots of AW model that can be upgraded to 1060 mxm boards and only few for MSI gaming laptops. Question is, is there any member here who have tried sticking a GTX 1060m on an MSI GT60-ivy or haswell cpu? Because I've read based on the link that there's a " big squared capacitator at the back" that pushes towards the motherboard if you screw it tightly for AW laptops.

    What about the GT60 version?

    @sicily428

    I think this is the difference between AW17 and MS GT60/70. MSI doesn't have that " big square capacitor at the back" I think I answered my problem to that. All I need now is on how to get a non-gsync vbios (stock) for 1060m. Do you have a link? Thanks.

    to those MSI GT users for ivy and haswell users. If you have modded vbios try kombustor and do the stress test if it's stable (if not it shuts down). If not you should stick to the stock vbios instead and tweak it with afterburner. much stable. Works flawless on my 970m (with stock vbios)

    Just for history's sake:
    Alienware M15x upgrade history:
    GTX 260M -> AMD 5850M -> AMD 6990M -> AMD 7970M/GTX 680M -> GTX 970M

    That's remarkable for a laptop imo.

    I do have the MSI GeForce GTX 1060N 6GB MXM3.0b card yes.

    The vBIOS version I have is 86.06.19.00.08.
    Multiple websites report the card as a 80W TDP GPU but its clearly consuming WAY MORE than 150W on my laptop as the power adapter cuts out when it exceeds 182W usage, this clearly never happened on my M290X which is a VERY power hungry 100W TDP GPU.

    Its my suspicion that the vBIOS I have is Clevo one and its either 125W TDP or 150W TDP. The voltage sensor is not working correctly as it sometimes show ludicrous readings.
    Either that or my Asus N180W-02 180W slim adapter is not as efficient as Asus advertises it and in reality a 160W one which is hard to believe when they bundle them with power hungry beasts that have far more power hungry components than mine do.

    I have also acquired an unknown AMD Radeon Rx 480 MXM 3.0b a black card maybe MSI or Sapphire. Its taking its sweet time shipping from China though, will report back when acquired.

    I see they updated the TDP in the listing to the stock 115W. But whether you should boost it to 151W is dubious.

    I recently did the GTX 680m Eurocom upgrade on the Clevo D900f. Did not have to upgrade the heatsink. With the help of @Danishblunt I'm running stable OC at 940mhz/2150mhz. Does pretty good compared to my old GTX 280m... :p

    Optimus is enough. Pascal cards are compatible with edp panel if a laptop doesn't use optimus. Is there a standard mxm 3.0b card in that model?
