how about your 8770w boot options? Is the msata ssd really the main drive with OS?

actually i was surprised when i received my 8770w, instead of a msata ssd 128gig, it had a 128gb 2.5 ssd for the main drive with the OS.

You don't. It's on 90+% of the time, even with the cooler always on option ticked off in the bios.

Any brand is OK, preferably ddr3-1600 (pc3-12800s).

Be aware that with an i5 you can only populate 2 sodimm slots. You need a quad i7 to use all four slots.

Online, but it's not a simple drop-in replacement. You need new backcover, cables and possibly a modified motherboard.

Now I have display AUO219D but I would like to put sth better than this. But what you wrote it not so easy. :p Anyway what wlan I can put better than Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6205. Last question but not least :p I think Ati amd put crap about gpu card. I try to fix my issue with extended desktop. When I closed the cover of laptop on TV I see what is in main pulpit. Strange I try many drivers, options in energy but still no clue. Thanks for answers. :)

6300, 6250, 6235 or the newer 7260, depending on your needs. Warning: the cards may be black/whitelisted, so you should ideally buy an HP-branded piece.

As to the displays, same problem. Often, with HP, regular alternative displays might not work unless whitelisted (e.g., the 12,5" LG IPS panel common on the Lenovo x220/230 works perfectly on the Dell E62x0, but not on HP's 25x0p).

The pain of buying HP workstations, I guess.

But your current display should be pretty good - good brightness, pretty good contrast, good gamut (full sRGB)...

Yeap there is no must have so I'm good with this. :)

Any hints to my issue with setting up extended desktop. When I close cover it automatically set as main desktop. It is on win 7 and win 8. Any clue?

Yesterday I put blacklit keyboard now is cool. :p Is there an option to set always on? or it only lights when you type?

My elitebook has the Intel QM77 Express Chipset. But on intel site this chipset is not listed on download center! they have QM57 but not 77!
Is this normal and where can we get latest inf updated utility for this chipset?

It's the 7 series chipset. Get the drivers from HP support directly. Probably not the latest, but it does not matter much.

Also update bios to F43, the latest October build. Among others, it "Provides support for additional wireless LAN modules." - i.e., whitelists some new models.

Already done. :) Where I can find what was change in F43? When I get some money would like to put NVIDIA Quadro K4000M.

When I change keyboard I saw that to wlan is only connected two cables and one is free, so will also buy wlan card with 3 antenna option.

I sorted it out my router signal is low. :)

Could you set up extended desktop and when you close the lid everything will be fine or main desktop will be on the second one. I dont know what is wrong, maybe my display adapter made some , I have delock Delock Adapter Displayport male > HDMI female

Maybe it is somehow because of Standby detection, standby enter into sleep mode automatically ?

    Cheers :)

P.S I found in bios backlit keyboard. :)

When you open lid it automatically show up extended desktop. ? I checked everything AMD firepro 4000m options and windows options.

Lid Close Action I set to Do Nothing in Power Option Properties and display is set to extended desktop mode, after closing the lid primary display switch to external monitor and only exist as one. When lid is open everything is ok.

If I've understood correctly what the problem is, that's actually how it works. Do nothing has other options that are Shutdown, Hibernate or Sleep. It doesn't affect any other than if computer should turn off or do nothing power-wise when lid is closed.

I believe using start menu and software on main screen is a bit tricky when lid is closed. Maybe that's just me though :)

I closed lid I should have use both 2 displays as extended. Issue is that it mess up and show only 1st on second one. Option set as do nothing, somehow do sth, but I dont know where is the trouble perhaps it is a driver issue ati m4000 but I use last one which was released 2 weeks ago.

I missed the part about two external displays and I tried to find the logic with only one external... ;)

Altough my work laptop (T410) supports only two displays, it changes from internal+external to two externals automatically when I close the lid. So that sounds pretty much like a driver issue.

Yes, try to find the quad-core dual-heatpipe heatsink. The dual-core heatsink has one heatpipe only.

I did this with my old 8740w, as the original heatsink could not deal with a quad-core CPU and the difference was 10+ degrees.

I haven't looked yet..just got the 8770w but what is the difference between the two system boards? I think from pictures I've seen that it looks like its that the quad system board has the extra 2 mem sockets soldered on that the dual doesn't? Therefore even if I replace the dual CPU with a quad CPU that I couldn't utilize all 4 sockets?

    Thanks!

Just had my 8770w for a week now, noticed an interesting thing that if I have any external drives hooked up to either the USB 3 or 2 ports, it will not go past POST. It locks up. Cannot push escape for boot menu, nor F10 for BIOS or anything. Does anyone else ever come across this? I have the latest BIOS version installed. Its not trying to boot from the drives, they are not even selected as boot devices. Tried enabling and disabling Fast Boot if that had some part in it.

Any ideas? Got an warning once where the Caps Lock and Num Lock blinked twice. Googled that and it is supposed to mean "BIOS corruption" for other HP laptops.
