Here's the configuration I got for work which replaced by Precision 7710...

    Precision 7740
    • Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-9980HK CPU @ 2.40GHz
    • Memory: 64GB (2x32GB DDR4-2666 Non-ECC)
    • M.2 1TB NVME Class 40
    • Added Samsung 970 EVO 2TB NVME
    • Quadro RTX3000 w/ 6GB DDR6 (Max-Q)
    • 17.3" UHD with Aluminum Frame (100% Adobe)
    • Smart Card Reader w/ Finger Print Reader (Non-FIPS) and NFC
    • 6cell 97Wh battery with ExpressCharge
    • Intel Wifi 6 AX200 2x2, Bluetooth 5.0
    • Dell Performance Dock with Dual Connector 210w (WD19DC)

So far works great. Been having some issues with the docking station (WD19DC) where only one of the ports actually activates and occasionally the drivers will forget what it is and disconnect from the network and USB devices disappear (multi-screen works though).

Have you tried the fingerprint reader? Is it quick? I've only used the FIPS one, which I have used in four different models I believe, but am considering switching to non-FIPS whenever I get another system. The FIPS one is pretty slow to recognize your fingerprint (two or three seconds).

I've only used it for the initial setup and it was pretty responsive. Since the webcam is Windows Hello compatible, I've been using that and the smartphone proximity unlock. It's pretty fast (but probably not the most secure).

I know what you mean withe the FIPS reader... had that on the 7710... you end up wondering if you put your finger on correctly even though the sensor area is should have picked it up. Right before I replaced it, I ended up not using the FIPS reader since it was so temperamental.

@djdigitalhi good to read the first impressions on 7740

    I'm still waiting mine..

Did you have performed some benchmarks? Cinebench R20/15, and so on? What's going on the thermal management side?
    Thanks.

Looks very modern and the new aluminium lid looks similar to HP's ZBook, including that line near the top edge. Congratulations on the new laptop!
