I think you can try Sata0 and Sata1 (Slot #6 and Slot #3), but maybe the best thing is to do some test anyway.

Did you go for 9980HK and no discrete gpu?

Could someone that have the HDR400 4K screen check what panel it is?

    ok, it's different..

9980hk yes, but then RTX3000. Maybe that also lowers CPU-Temp.

That was exactly my assumption when I chose to go for no discrete gpu :)
Anyway RTX3000 should be a good compromise all around.

Thanks for the RAID info - Good to know!

Another thing I noticed is that using an external NVMe SSD (https://www.amazon.com/Sabrent-Rocket-External-Aluminum-SB-2TB-NVME/dp/B07N15HD51) over USB-C results in random disconnects of the drive. My gut feeling is that it's a power issue, as the drive works over standard USB. A BIOS update came out a few days ago that I'm going to test. It doesn't mention this issue, but sometimes they tweak things that aren't in a changelog so we'll see. Also running the latest chipset drivers.

Overall pretty happy with this so far - I have the 9980HK/UHD/RTX5000/128GB/4TB. Had my first battery testing experience yesterday and as with most laptops of this caliber, it's pretty bad. I think I got like an hour and a half, although I had the display pretty bright for some of that.

    Hi Hopper,
how should a non discrete GPU lower temps? Over all may be, but now -in your case- the CPU internal GPU-part helps heating up the CPU.

    Am i wrong?

The Intel GPU would be active regardless of whether a dGPU is present or not (if graphics switching / Optimus is enabled, which it is by default).

usually you can switch off CPU-internal graphics completely in bios...

not sure if that is the case for the 7740..

It is an option in the BIOS. A trade-off like everything, it will reduce runtime on battery power. Many users here run with graphics switching on.
