So I just received my e6410 that I bought from the Dell Outlet. Trouble is I don't know if my wall charger is the right one or not. I have the thick brick as opposed to the wide, slender brick. Worst part was the plug that goes into the brick and plugs into the wall does not fit. I believe they sent me the wall plug that fits with the slender brick.

Before I contact Dell, do both power bricks work for the 6410? If not then which one do I need for them to ship me a new one?

    You have the wrong PSU.
Most Dell PSU work in all systems. For your laptop the 65W, and 90W or more model will work. However, if you use the 65W, your system will not go full speed and won't be able to recharge your battery at the same time (you have to choose, minimum speed laptop, or slow recharge). 90W will provide you a normal operation of your laptop.. anything more is fine... it won't provide you with any benefit.

    Thanks.

Just for my reference, how do I know that the thick brick is a 65w? I looked over the label and didnt see the wattage listed. I see on input its 110-240v 1.5A 50-60hz. Output is 19.5v and 4.62a.

Edit: actually now that I look back at my invoice, they sent me the wrong ac adaptor all together. My invoice says 90w and they definitely sent me a 65w.

I had to select each item in the device manager and reinstall the drivers manually. I was able to point them to the folder that the video drivers were extracted to. There is an HDAUDIO subfolder that had the drivers I needed in it.

This laptop is FAST with this 3 Ghz i7 in it!!

    johndoe776,

You might be interested in this thread.

It seems like a somewhat common issue that Dell outlet sends out power cords that don't match the power brick.

Thanks. I searched AC adaptor before I posted, and that thread didn't show up originally. That was the exact same situation I had. Strange thing is it's the first time to happen. Bought a few other Latitudes, and it's the first time to happen.

Someone is screwing up at Dell... this needs to be solved.
If the problem still persists, present nicely and formally in a detailed e-mail, with all your information to Michael Dell (founder of Dell) at: Email Michael Dell - The Consumerist

Every 3 days, Windows Vista/ 7 performs a boot optimization. And once a week, it will auto-defrag (if your computer is on and left long enough) (you can see at what time its schedualed to do this task and change it in the defrag utility of Windows).

Also, in Windows, when you are plug-in, Windows will index all your files on your system for instant search. I suggest that once you have all your files put back on your system, to leave the computer over night open.

Probably i wasn't clear enough. I didn't mean windows boot time but some sort of bios feature that take too long to start the boot loader.
