Hmmm... interesting.. There is an option in the BIOS to do a Minimal boot or a full boot. Select Minimal 9if it's already selected, set it to full, reboot, and put it back to minimal.

Also, what I suggest, go in the BIOS, and disable all that you don't use. For instance, if you don't use TPM, disable it, if you don't have a dock and don't use serial/parallel port, disable it. Then update the BIOS. See if that helps. If not, then it might just be you, or a hardware in the computer is not responding... at which point you need to identify its, by removing all hardware attached to the motherboard (wireless card, bluetooth, optical drive, etc..), if that is not conclusive, then it could be the motherboard (when the BIOS boots it fails in detecting a hardware or fails a test, so it performs a full BIOS boot diagnostic).

Oh you can try to click on "Load Default settings" in the BIOS, see if that helps.

What is your Windows version? Is it the 32 or 64-bit version?
What wireless card did you pick when selecting your computer?

Go to the manufacture web site of the wireless card. So if you have an Intel wireless card, go to Intel web site. From there, download the latest wireless card drivers for your version of Windows. Once done, uninstall the current wireless card drivers. Restart your computer, and install the latest wireless card drivers, and restart your computer again. See if that helps.

Anyone experiencing some touchpad mouse lag with this laptop? Seems as if when you don't move the mouse for a bit and then move your finger the mouse seems to "jump" around a bit .. kinda lagging.. before smoothing out. This is kind of odd for a new computer... anyone know what may be the issue? I assume it might be some background program downloading or installing but I can't really find anything and this is a new computer with only the basic dell installed programs. Thanks.

Also - the Intel rapid storage technology program seems to start up as disabled when I turn on the computer and I have to click it and Windows 7 gives me a warning to allow the program to run and then it will say that it is enabled. Is there any way to allow this to be running all the time without having to turn it on each time I turn on the computer? Thanks.

Have you tried waiting for the program to initialize on startup? I've seen the IRST app take a bit longer to enable itself on startup on a desktop, but it does eventually go green.

If I recall correctly, the Intel Rapid Storage Technology application starts as an automatic (delayed startup) service. Nevertheless, the application should not bear any significance to system performance and stability, as it's the AHCI driver that matters. Personally, I elected to opt out of installing that application (which one may achieve using the PreOS drivers and the 'Have Disk' method via Device Manager).

I have performed benchmarks with and without the application, and determined that it is completely unnecessary. Besides, for those of thus keen on reserving memory for useful purposes, it saves around 20-30MB of RAM.
