Dell adds an audio component that enables audio out on the display port. The nVidia driver does not. If you don't need audio out on the display port, or until you do, either driver will work, subject to the usual version differences.

Thank you John. I adjusted gamma and brightness. It looks much better now.
I also wanted to play with contrast but could not find this option anywehere.

There should be a contrast option in the graphics card properties. With the Intel graphics one can tweak brightness, contrast and gamma both overall and for the three primary colours - I assume nVidia has something similar.

I searched through nVidia menu and found all I needed. So, there is no option in Windows to adjust contrast?

I tested my i7-620M. At idle the core temps move around quite a bit, but they tend to stay equal within a couple degrees, and in the low 40s C range. I ran an Acronis backup at max compression for the load test; both cores/all four threads are at or near 100% all the time right now, near the beginning of the operation. It's running as I type this. The fan is going pretty fast and the core temps are 92 and 85 C. (And now, a few minutes later, although the backup is still in progress and CPU usage is still at or near 100%, the temps have lowered to the low 80s.) So, I'd say 82 to 92 C under full load.

I would be interested in learning what your i5-520M and -540M numbers are.

    Nothing that I have found.

That's getting warm. The highest temperature I have seen (using HWmonitor) for my i5-540M is 83C (wPrime 1024 with 4 threads). I think the fan gets to the second speed. Idle temperatures are normally around 40-45C with Core #2 up to 9C hotter than Core #0 when on idle but similar temperatures when on full load. My i5-540M pulls about 30W on full load.

Thx, i havent had the opportunity to use displayport so i guess i'll try the latest nvidia driver.

Anybody have a solution for the audio and system stuttering when dell dcp is active? Does it affect the laptop regardless of what type or OS you have, i currently have windows 7 64 bit installed. I also occasionally exp stuttering for now apparent reason, but its worst when dcp is active.

I wonder how much cooler the I5-430M would run? I know it is the same TDP as the rest of the standard I5 Mobile chips (35 Watts) which mean they all should function in fairly close proximity to one another. I noticed that Dell removed the 430M from the available choices in lieu of the 450M, wonder why?

I'm running Win7-64 on my E6410 and dpclat is sitting in the green zone. Note that an update for DCP system manager was released last week. Don't use the security manager or connection manager modules unless you need to. If dpclat is showing latency problems then read this thread.
