There's something amiss with the battery data in your report. "design capacity: 8400 mAh" is missing a zero, plus the design capacity of my Samsung 90Wh battery is more than 90Wh. See the attached. The design capacity of my E6400 9 cell battery is 84915 mWh.

Dell provide more information about their updates than most computer manufacturers. It's worth reading the Fixes and Enhancements section but, at the same time, I often wonder if there are other fixes that aren't mentioned.

Which BIOS version are you using? BIOS A05:

Does anybody have a guide on how to remove a single dell key?

Coz i have a slight problem with one of my keys, its actually the right directionally next to the fingerprint scanner.

From what i;ve read, it uses a scissor mechanism to hold the key, so am i rig to assume that pulling the top left corner of that key will remove it without destroying the scissor mechanism and all i have to do is just snap it back in?

Someone gently popped off their spacebar key. Then snapped it back on. Your mileage may vary.

Is there a particular direction that would be best to pop out the key with damaging the key mechanism?

or do i just pull it gently till it pops out regardless?

    Hi,

    I just got my outlet E6410 with i7, Win7 64bit and a samsung 128Gb SSD.

I was wondering what is the best bios setting for the samsung SSD, ATA or AHCI or IRRT. The default is set to IRRT but to be honest I don't know what
    any of these mean.

    Thanks in advance

I would recommend AHCI. Unless the situation has changed recently, IRRT does not support TRIM (which helps to maintain the SSD performance). IRRT is a sort of RAID setup whereby an external copy is made of the internal storage drive.

You can swap the access mode without any problem if you are using the Dell factory installation of Windows. However, if you install your own copy of Windows and then change the access mode then expect a BSOD unless you follow the procedure in another thread in this forum. So it is prudent to do the swap now.

    Thanks for the reply.

I changed it to AHCI and it worked fine, the new drivers were installed. I see that the intel rapid storage software is still loaded, is this needed in AHCI or can I remove it?

The Intel Rapid Storage software is optional. I've uninstalled it on my E6410 partly to have one less process and partly because its predecessor used to cause latency problems (while it periodically went round the system checking on what storage devices were installed). However, I have noticed that without that software installed it seems to take longer for Windows to notice that storage devices are added or removed, so I might put it back on. I suggest you leave it running unless it causes problems.
