For others using HWinfo32, is your bclock going crazy? Mine keeps jumping around in the 100-150Mhz range, when it should be locked at 133. Power savings features are on the multi, not the bclock AFAIK.
quick edit Maybe it IS power saving, if I load the CPU it locks right down to 133. Also the 35W TDP i5-540 is showing a 25W TDP. Counting the GPU separately, perhaps?

The highest power consumption that HWiNFO32 has reported for my i5-540M (with Intel GPU) is just under 30W when running the wPrime benchmark (which will create 4 threads by default). The 35W TDP is for the whole package including GPU and memory controller. Perhaps HWiNFO32 is only reading the CPU power consumption. In that case, having a dedicated GPU should allow the CPU to run closer to the 35W rating.

Hi everyone, got my E6410 last week, and I'm really very pleased with it.
One question though: it takes around 10 seconds from the time I switch it on until it goes to the OS selection (I assume that's it, it's basically the blinking cursor that's displayed right before Windows 7 boots). Is this normal?

Check the boot options in the BIOS. For the quickest boot the HDD should be at the top of the list and, if you want to boot off the optical drive, then press F12 when a message pops up in the top right corner of the BIOS splash screen.

The BIOS also has options for the amount of self-testing during the initial BIOS startup.

Sorry, forgot to mention that, the HDD is already on top of the boot list.

Maybe I overlooked this, but where I can find that?

Post Behavior > Fast Boot then select Minimal. Also look at the Post Behavior options (Post means POST = Power On Self Test).

What's that button near the power button used for?

Might you mean the Latitude On button? Give it a prod when the computer is off and see what happens.

    Hi All,

Good news! Dell was very kind and willing to have my Exchange the bad E6410 for another and this new one is working great. So all is good. The other one must have just been bad. Thanks to everyone who helped!
