Someone previously got the Liteon SSD and managed to persuade Dell to replace it because of the very poor performance. More details here.

I got this from the outlet, so I doubt they're going to give me a Samsung. As long as the freezing stays taken care of, I'm happy with it for the price I paid.

Is the SSD a similar model number to the one reviewed here. If so, you could expect similar performance (try running the ATTO benchmark) and, if you don't see typical SSD performance then we should assume that the SSD isn't fully healthy and should be replaced. You might get another Liteon depending on what is available in the parts store. It's a 5 minute job to swap the SSD.

The model number for my drive is LE-128M1S, so it's similar, but not the same. The read performance of my drive is better than the one reviewed, but the write performance is only about 70%. I'd be more apt to argue with Dell about sending me a new drive if there was performance data from an LE model drive, rather than an LA.

I've just received my E6410 outlet laptop and I found some of the keys loose. Nothing really bad but the whole part of the keyboard with letters "qwerasdfzxc" has a different, loud and unpleasant click compared to the others. I would not be that bad if the whole keyboard was such but because these are only some of the letters, it drives me a crazy even more.

I wonder about my options. I can sent it back for replacement (I'm still within 21 days for the return) but Dell may not have the very same specs and I got a very good deal so I would not like return for cash. Also, there may be some problems with the replaced laptop and mine is OK except for the keyboard. Or I can ask for keyboard replacement. I purchased on-site next business day warranty and maybe that's the best option. Anybody used on-site warranty?

I searched the thread and found some keyboard problems on pages 43-44 with extensive flex. But I have a perfect keyboard except for a few keys. Is it just the keyboard or there may a problem with the mounting underneath the keyboard?

Perhaps tearing it open to reseat the keyboard would help, IF it looks like a unit assembly issue. Would need to research the how-to. Is it the non-backlit keyboard... it has been observed to be less stiff, so maybe it is flexing and catching/clicking somewhere.

Or, gently pop off and reseat the culprit keys, IF it looks like an assembly issue for just those keys.

Or, ask Dell to replace the keyboard.

Or, buy and install a backlit replacement from eBay. Seems to be a common solution among users here.

Yea, and don't forget that an E6400 keyboard is compatible, too.

This post says that the Liteon SSD is slow without giving specific numbers. I suspect that your ATTO results are representative of the device. It's your decision whether to hassle Dell for an SSD which has 2010 SSD performance or accept what you have got.

I would first check that the keyboard is properly seated. With the computer off, firmly press down on the problem area with the palm of your hand. I noticed that it does need a firm push at each side when I changed my keyboard to the backlit version.

If that doesn't fix it then I would ask Dell for a replacement. I think they consider it to be a user-replaceable part (however, be careful with the LED cover which has to be removed to get to the screws).

In the first page I saw that E6410 didn't come with antenna for wwan card (but E6400 did). Is it true ? If I want to install wwan card, I must buy the antenna for wwan card ?

    Thanks for all your suggestions.

I tried pressing down the affected area but no change. I will contact Dell tomorrow and ask for replacement. I have a backlit version.

By the way. I successfully installed Ubuntu 10.04 with just minor problems and it works fine (supposedly a contactless smartcard reader does not work but all the major stuff is OK). I have nVidia graphics and it was the only tricky thing during installation but after downloading nVidia drivers, everything works fine, including external monitors. If anybody has questions about my setup, I can help.
