My E6410 has a pair of grey wires parked in the WWAN bay.

Same here, you should just need the card, it already has the antenna.

Who is using their latitude solely for personal (consumer) use, as opposed to business use? AKA as a better built and/or dock-enabled consumer laptop?

Thank you. But why the picture in the first page didn't have antenna ?
PS: in your picture, I see that you are using Dell Wifi card, it's only have 2 jack to connect to the antenna. So if using Intel wifi card which has 3 jacks, it can catch the signal better. Is it right ?

I can't explain that. But it appears that current production does have all the antennae pre-wired. It's the logistically sensible solution because there will be fewer versions of the chassis for final assembly.
My wireless card is the Intel 6200. The 6300 has the extra antenna. I think it offers theoretically better throughput but may not be better at picking up a weak signal. See here for Intel's comparison.

How can I extract the Intel drivers needed for a Pre OS AHCI install from the Intel Rapid Storage driver download? I've tried preloading thing IRS AHCI INF driver prior to install Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit and get this error (0x80300001). I've read there were issues preloading AHCI with the Ultimate versions, any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you are doing your own Windows installation then it is recommended that you follow the instructions in Dells reimage guide.

Thanks John, I am following the Reimage guide which states the pre OS version of the Intel Rapid Storage AHCI driver needs to be installed prior to installing te OS. It's under section 2.6.4. The only thing that's non-Dell is the OS disk and it's a 64 bit version of Win 7 Ultimate, the system came with a 32 bit version.

Windows Vista/7 supports SATA natively, and the drivers are not tied in to the kernel of Windows like in XP and older Windows. Your SATA drivers, can be installed at any time after you installed Windows.

What you read is for old Windows, such as XP, where it doesn't know what "SATA" is, therefor unable to support it out of the box.

I talked to support and they suggested installing the full version after I completed installation. I did this and it changed the driver from the WIndows driver to the Intel driver without a problem.
