Will that E6410 in AHCI mode boot from a Windows installation DVD? Then there must be something missing from the Ghost bootable DVD boot OS... something related to driving AHCI mode enabled devices.

Are you attempting to re-image the E6410 using the Ghost image? Is it an E6410 image?

Yes it will boot from a Windows install DVD, but it also boots from the Ghost Disk I created in ACHI mode. It just not even try to boot from the disk in ATA mode.

Sorry, I may have interchanged ATA with AHCI above.

So, in ATA mode, the SATA ODD does not boot the Ghost DVD. Will it boot from the Windows DVD in ATA mode? Wondering if the SATA ODD does not operate in ATA mode, period?

Just tried that too with a Windows 7 64bit PRO DVD in ATA mode same result, flashing cursor if the top left hand corner then it eventually comes up with that same error. Selected boot device failed.....

The drive does not even spin up, no activity light, nothing.

The drive works fine in Windows and will boot up the same DVDs in my E6400 ATG in ATA mode.

I am fairly sure this should work.

Interestingly though a Windows XP SP3 disk boots up. Very strange indeed.

    I have the 1440 and 1280 screens. I regret getting the 1280.

I haven't tried that screen setup but yes there must be a way of running 2 either as you mention or using a splitter

    Latest Bios is A05

Yes, according to the nVidia spec.

You can find the latest BIOS on dell.com under Support... just enter the Latitude E6410 for related downloads.
