Sandybridge is the every other generation of Intel hardware that usually improves power efficiency.

However, while I have managed to get my E6410 down below 8W power consumption by dimming the display and closing down everything except Word, 12 to 15W is more normal if I'm using a wireless connection and have Firefox (with innumerable tabs open but Flashblock running).

Provided the E6420 has a 1440 x 900 display then I may not be keeping the E6410 for the 2 years that I had the E6400.

Thanks for all the helpful answers GoodBytes, GKDesigns, John.

So far everything seems smooth. I had one random flicker on the screen and some sort of error message but it hasn't happened again. I hope I never have to deal with warranty on this for the next 3 years.

I use my e6410 with the e-Port and a Monitor Stand on a daily basis. I have a single external monitor, but you can apparently run more than one.
I haven't had any problems with it; I'm able to dock and undock while running multiple programs and java screens and it works seamlessly. It makes it very convenient to move from desktop setup to working outside on the patio...
I used my old D620 with a d-Port docking arrangement and it never worked very well, so this new setup has been a relief.

P.S. You can find the docking hardware on eBay, Craigslist, and Amazon for less $$ than Dell.

SD CARD Driver - Does anyone know which driver allows the SD Card functionality? I have reinstalled from a Vista machine to a Windows 7. Only thing I can't pin down is this driver. Tia!

I think it is the RICOH_R5U24X_A04_R263985 (or later version) found with the Intel Chipset downloads on Dell.com.

Could someone *please* tell me if Pro Evolution Soccer 2011 and FIFA 11 would be playable on an E6410 with i5 2.4GHz, 4gigs, nv 3100M?

So yes, both games should play fine.
If they don't play, install Nvidia Geforce (any mobile Geforce, they are all the same driver) of the 260 beta series drivers from Nvidia web site, and now it should be fine. Quadro drivers are optimized for CAD related software, while Geforce is optimized on games.

Thanks for the quick response, but I guess I should have clarified that by playable I mean atleast 40+fps. Can't really figure that out from the game requirements..

You may be able to do some extrapolation from notebookcheck's data and the overall GPU list (the 3100M is currently #125).
