I had a problem booting a Windows 7 DVD. What worked was pressing F12 at boot to get a boot list. Then select something like "Legacy CD/DVD". I'm not sure if this you are seeing the same problem as I did. Good luck.

AHCI and SATA are essentially the same thing.

I recall something similar happening to me a couple of months back but can't now remember the details.

So I have a question for you guys. I reformatted one of our new E6410's and I cannot seem to find a couple pieces of software. Most important are the following: the Dell quickset (or at least that is what it use to be called) that displays onscreen the volume controls, brightness, etc. Secondly which might be included in the package above is the "Dell" power scheme. And finally the webcam software.

Any ideas where I might find this?

    Thanks!

You can find all that on Dell drivers page of your laptop.
    Drivers & Downloads

You need to install Dell Control Panel System Manager

DellControlPoint System Manager can be downloaded from dell.com.

I did not install any Dell.com webcam driver under Win7... not required. But I did install Dell Webcam Central from the OEM CD... this app is not offered on dell.com.

Download the PDF file at this link for reimaging instructions.

If the link does not work, Google:

I'm very happy with this resolution and wouldn't want anything higher which would mean everything would be even smaller that it is already. As it is I run windows 7 at 150% which looks ok but forms often end up with their buttons off the screen where you can't get at them (when will developers ever learn ?)

Anybody seen a blackberry lately ? You need a microscope to read the screen.

I never got anywhere near 8-9 hours, my system is less than four months old and I get about 4 hours with wifi and bluetooth on.

I've moved from the E6400 to the E6410 (both with Intel graphics). Initially, I was annoyed that the E6410 came with a 9 cell battery but have realised that it is useful. The i5 540M CPU is noticeably less frugal under light load than the P8600 (which is a lower power part, both under load and also on idle). The i series CPUs lack any super low frequency mode and can't be undervolted. Every other generation of Intel hardware takes a step backwards in terms of power efficiency and this is one of them.

    Really?! It's that bad with a 9-cell?
Hmm... Hopefully Sandy Bridge (project name of the coming up Intel desktop/mobile CPU's) will have something, or AMD will magically release a kick-*** CPU.

John, it's now your responsibility to make this happen :p
