I just got refurb e6410 on Wednesday and after a problem I've noticed is that when I close the lid and open it again, the screen is black. If I move the mouse cursor, I can see it, but to see my desktop again, I have to use ctrl alt delete for the entire screen to show something again. I did a fresh install of W7x64 onto my Intel G1 SSD and installed the quadro graphics drivers from nvidia. Anyone else have this problem as was able to fix it? I tried searching this thread to no avail.

edit: it's set to do nothing when the lid is closed

Is your BIOS updated to the latest version (A05)? If not, update it.

Also, are you using the latest drivers from the Dell download site? (You mention using the latest driver from Nvidia but don't mention the other drivers).

Try Nvidia 260 beta series drivers for mobile Geforce (Nvidia uses 1 driver for all of them), it works great on my Latitude E6400.

I have the touchpad, sound, and gigabit drivers from dell. Using intel's drivers for the 6200 wifi card.

    I'll try this first.

    edit: Sweet. That fixed it.

I recently bought a e6410 for when i get back to the USA.

I got an I5 540m one with the nvidia dedicated card webcam wxga+ screen webcam 7200rpm hd etc etc got a good deal because of the 25% off deal going on at the moment.

The only down side is it comes with windows 7 32bit i have no idea why as it has 4gb of ram.

Does anyone have any benchmard comparisons between using the quadro drivers with the NVS3100 and the geforce drives in something like 3dmark06?

It would be really cool if this driver got the 3100nvs peformance upto a 310m or 210m level.

    thanks in advance.

According to Notebookcheck, the 3100M and the 310M have very similar performance (#122 and #125 in their table) with 3DMark06 score of around 3200.

And for those with the Intel GPU there's an updated Intel QM57/QS57 graphics driver released on 15 October:

You can do a win7 64bit new installation, and put the original key in for activation, if not work for online registration, do a phone one. It should work. I did it for my e4310 with win7 32bit this way, it worked.

I just recently did the same with Winows Ultimate and the 64 bit version worked fine activating it over the phone using the original Dell activation key.

Has anyone here encountered this problem? My screen has gone black a few times since I received it last week and the following message appeared:

display driver stopped responding and has recovered

It then comes back on in a second or so, but it's very disconcerting to say the least. I have the nVidia card and an Internet search produces a huge number of hits on this same message mostly with nvidia cards and Windows 64 bit, which is what I have. My device manager says I have the latest driver. Anyone has any ideas?
