The sleep/wake problem seems to have disappeared after I did a clean install.
I used my own Windows 7 64bit disc - can I get Dell to somehow transfer my 32bit activation to this 64bit one?

I just recently bought 35 E6510/E6410 and like to put backlit keyboards in all my laptops at work. I used this seller for the 22 I needed. They are pulls so slightly used but great condition. Out of the 22 I had 3 that had some issues with keys popped off and the seller replaced those 3 after an email.

You can try installing and activating your x64 with Dell's x86 product key. Or try getting Dell to supply you with Win7 x64.

Call Dell etch support, and complain that your system is broken, and can't address your 4GB of RAM. They will send you a 64-bit Windows 7, and you just return the 32-bit disk to them.

Yes I would like to use latest intel version. Thanks for the tip.

Actually, John Ratsey spoke about a version released on 15th October. I've been looking on Intel website but latest release I can find is August 2010..
    Any Idea:confused:

    Thanks,

I went from 32 to 64 using the included key. You will have to call Microsoft to complete the activation, but the service is fully automated, quick, and easy.

I am quite decided to get an E6410. I have decided what I will take Core i3, 4 Gb RAM and 250 Gb HD. I am quite sure that I prefer nVidia over Intel for GPU, because I may play some games occasionally. What I cannot decide is on the screen. I am happy right now with a 15" at 1280x800 but I am tempted to go for the 1440x900. However, I fear that the fonts will be too small for my poor sight. Apart from this, is there any other advice that you can give me?
    Thank you.

I upgraqded the NVIDIA drivers (dated 10/20 on Dell's site) last night. Prior to the upgrade I could not get a reliable signal to my 65" Mitsubishi using a displayport to hdmi adapter.
Now the video looks great (aside from some slight scaling issues - cutting off the edge of the screen on the TV). I cannot however seem to get sound through to the television. WHen I first connected the set, the TV was showing up in my sound options, but I was not getting sound. I disconnected and reconnected the adapter and now my TV does not even show up in the sounds options, and all sound is pushed out through the laptop.
I know that an E6410 is capable of pushing sound through the displayport (HDMI). Anyone have anyexperience with this? I am wondering if I should try a different adapter.

I was referring to Dell's version on the E6410 downloads.

I have 1440x900 on the 14.1" E6400s. It's small... I would not want it any smaller. I suspect 1440x900 on the 15.4" E6500s would be optimum... for me. You can increase Windows display scaling to say 120% with good results, but not required to make it usable by someone with good working eyesight. I would not recommend 1440x900 on 14.1" for poor eyesight. A lot of factors can contribute to 'poor eyesight' without someone having to be blind... the most common of which is just older age.

You should try to simulate 1440x900 on 14.1" and use it for a few hours to see how it feels. You can assume that 1440x900 will be very sharp on the E6400s, just small.
