    Hi,

A new happy owner of e6410 here! Have to say that I'm really impressed with the machine solid built, especially love the backlit keyboard. It's a joy to type!

I bought two laptops: one is e6410 ( i7 Core 620m, NVidia, 1400x900, wireless 6300n, 9 cell) for $680 shipped from Dell outlet. The other is a HP Elitebook 8440p (i5 core, HD+ , integrated GPU, 6 cell). I think the HP has a little higher built quality but I prefer Dell's keyboard. Also, Dell's screen is a little better even both of them are far worse than the one in HP Envy 15.

They are built to survive where consumer notebooks may struggle. Mine took a tumble off an airport X-ray machine onto a marble floor a few weeks back and lost a little paint off one corner.
The E6400 / E6500 keyboard is compatible. Something like this (assuming you want a US keyboard).

My e6410 is refurb but has 3 year limited warranty. Compared to the NIB HP Elitebook with only 1 year. Anyone can say something about Dell's 3 year limited warranty on their outlet items? It's almost like too good to be true to me! (sub $700, top performance + build quality and 3 year warranty)

It's just as good as a 3 year on a new system. I have an outlet D630 I bought in 2007, and while I haven't needed to use the warranty often (once for bad RAM) it's been a smooth experience. The Business tech support, while not as good as you'd get with Dell ProSupport (check your documentation....your machine may have it) it's been nothing but smooth sailing for me with good answers to my questions and such.

I'm actually debating whether to take up Dell's offer to extend the warranty coverage as mine is running out...

    From Dell: Drivers & Downloads

If you want drivers directly from Intel, you'll have to uninstall the Dell graphics driver as it prevents installing any Intel graphics driver other than the one Dell provides.

Does anyone know if the eSata port on the 6410 has a "port multiplier", so I could attach it to a multibay hard drive enclosure?

SATA specifications state that only 1 storage device per SATA port is possible.

You will need a SATA switch box to be able to attach several hard driver from one port.
