This not waking up from sleep is a real problem. I walk into accounts, get an order, and leave. End of day I transmit these orders. Thats what I got the laptop for and power cycling the machine each time is not an option. Preventing it from going into sleep is not an option as I don't have it plugged into an outlet during the day, I need to conserve power as much as possible.

This seems to be a common problem as I search around and see many who have had this issue on various OS's from various manufactures. I need to find a solution quick though. I know it's not something I recently installed (because I just got the laptop today) and I know it isn't because of a software upgrade (because I just got the laptop today) nor is it from recently installed hardware (because I just got the laptop today) It's an "out of box" failure I need to find a fix for.

If anyone has any suggestions please share.

    Thanks.

I prefer to reimage new machines to be sure of what I'm running before sweating any quirky behaviors.

For instance, re-install Windows only and try sleep. If it works fine, then you're solid and can take it from there.

I finally set mine to hibernate instead of sleep when the lid is closed. I may be wrong, but I suspect at least part of the problem is the machine doing Windows updates while it is sleeping. Why it even does this, I don't know. The last time it refused to wake up from sleep, I checked the logs and found it had done a Windows update at 3 a.m. while it was sleeping. Switched it to hibernate and it's really not much more time to wake up than sleep. Works for me!

I suggest setting Windows Updates to notify only, and then get around to reviewing and doing them a week or so later at your convenience.

A06 just released. Definitely update to it, apparently it contains a large number of fixes and enhancements.

    RE: the A06 BIOS.

Just tried to download and install it (I had only read about the fixes and new features in the RSS feed). Now getting a 550 error when trying to download :(

Dell servers are probably overwhelmed, or under maintenance. Try again later, or try a different Dell site, like Dell Canada, or Dell UK, or Dell US

Hi there, I just got my E6410 last week. Bought mine when I was on holiday in Malaysia and it cost me around USD 1280... Is this a good deal? I think so...

    - i7-740QM (This is a surprise to me as in the Dell website, the highest you can go is a i7-640.. In my E6410, I can see 8 threads in my task manager :) )
    Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit
    -6 Cell Battery
    -WXGA+ Ultrasharp LED Display (1440 x 900)
    -Webcam
    -500GB 7200 RPM hard drive
    -8GB DDR 1333MHz
    -Bluetooth 375 Dell
    -Wireless Intel 6300 Ultimate-N
    -512MB NVIDIA NVS 3100M
    -Backlit Keyboard
-Fingerprint reader with contactless smartcard reader

The only thing now is installing a SSD drive.. Any suggestions or recommendation or should I just wait for the price of SSD to go down further... I was thinking of installing a SSD in the future and buy a 2.5 HDD caddy slot and swap between my DVD slot or the caddy.

There is no Canadian support site that I know of. Navigating from there to support/drivers takes you to the US site.

I also got an error on the download (page not found, or file not found).

Here's a list of the fixes for the A06 bios :

    1. Fixed issue where OMCI fails to enumerate the DCIM_Doced instance.
    2. Added SMBIOS support for TAA MAC address.
    3. Fixed one boot sequence issue when switching between RAID and AHCI.
    4. Fixed issue where touch screen stops working when system is docked.
    5. Improve system POST and boot performance.
    6. Improve the IDE-R support.
    7. Improve AHCI HDD performance.
    8. Added support for China SLIC.
    9. Updated Arrandale C2-stepping Microcode to patch 0x0C.
    10. Updated PCH 1.6 reference code.
    11. Enabled ACPI SPCR for Serial-Over-Lan.
    12. Added support to display On-Board NIC MAC address in BIOS SETUP.
    13. Updated Intel Clarksfield Framework Reference Code to v1.31.
    14. Updated Arrandale MRC to v1.40.
    15. Improve Optical drive performance in ATA mode.
    16. Fixed TDM SSO structure location.
    17. Fixed issue where system hangs in PBA when running Sophos software.
    18. Updated Intel Video BIOS.
    19. Updated the manageability engine firmware to version 6.1.20.1059.
    20. Fixed issues related to F12 one time boot menu.
