Has anyone had issues with the trackpoint scroll jumping around?

With middle button trackpoint scroll, it would often jump to an earlier part of the web page as I scroll down, which is really annoying. It also seems to do so when scrolling down. I'm not touching the touchpad by the way, and the pointer doesn't seem to do that.

Yes, and it's annoying as hell. It has to do with the horizontal scrolling being hypersensitive. So far I haven't found a way to turn that off. Grr.

I get the same thing here and there. I just wait a couple of minutes and it finally starts up. Strangest thing. Nothing in the logs or anything l like that.

What is the driver or application I need to install to restore my brightness and volume on screen displays when adjusting the levels? My system crashed and burned while trying to update the Bluetooth driver so I'm having to rebuild it :( I was thinking it was a ControlPoint thing, but now I think I'm wrong about that. Help me out please. I'm too tired to go digging to look for it in the archives :) Thanks!

I believe that would be the Dell ControlPoint System module.

Note my E6410 Win7 reimage notes below... may help.

I've accidentally spilled ginger beer on the bottom left corner of my keyboard. This has caused the Shift key to feel sticky. Whenever I tap it, it feels mushy going down, then slowly raises up. Suggestions please. Thanks.

Remove the keyboard (see the Dell service manual) and then give the keyboard a bath in warm water with some liquid detergent using a brush to help shift the muck from the affected area. Then rinse the keyboard in clean water and place in a warm place and allow to dry. When dry, reinstall.

    If this doesn't work then look on ebay for a backlit (E6400 / E6500 / E6410) keyboard.

Thanks John. I had a surprisingly good result by sticking a thick kitchen paper towel folded into 4 layers and sticking into the area of the keyboard that was affected. Then, I closed the lid and left it for 2 hours.

Now, the keyboard is as good as new. :)

Be forewarned that sugary drinks can cause longer term problems with the electronics. If you are lucky, the drink didn't get down to the electronics in which case your fix may be successful.
