The Logitech C510 HD webcam is a nice portable unit with mic... I got one on sale plus rebate for $32.

The Intel 6300 works fine. Connects simulataneously on 2.4GHz and 5.0GHz bands, although I can't tell you how the traffic was routed... solid 300Mbps on 5.0Ghz n-mode at close range to Linksys E3000.

Do you need to burn DVDs. Will it still burn CDs?

    Thanks for the quick responses

vkfu : does this caddy fits and work well ? can you share your experience ?
do you know if the dvdrw from ebay fits ?

GKDesigns : thanks for the info about the camera, where did you buy it ? on Logitech site it’s 60$. do you refer to the intel 6300 in general ? I hoped someone had experience with the one from amazon. I read somewhere about compatibility issues and fake cards. Unfortunately the dvd rom drive doesn’t burn anything.

Tsunade_Hime : I assume the dell drives are great, but they are pricy.

I tried one hard drive in the caddy and it works. It seems to fit well also. Look at the photos on the listing.

Search on eBay for "E6410 dvdrw" or "E6400 dvdrw". Or find the Dell part number for the dvdrw and search for that.

Staples a couple weeks ago... $10 off plus $20 rebate. Your luck may vary.

My Intel Ultimate N 6300 shipped from Dell in the notebook.

Dell made me jump through some hoops but I now have a Sony AD-7930H optical drive to replace the GU10N which was somewhat temperamental and produced too many coasters. I think it had problems getting to the track where it writes the CD/DVD equivalent of the FAT because sometimes I would get an error at the start of a burn and sometimes at the end.

The biggest hoop that I had to jump through was to confirm that I encountered the burning problems with Dell's bundled Roxio software. However, my new Windows installation didn't have this because I use Nero. Fortunately, I remembered that I had the original Dell HDD in my HDD pile so I was able to connect it via eSATA and boot up. Roxio encountered the same burning problem (a "there was a problem writing to the disc" message). And, as further evidence that the problem was the burner, I put the same disc into my E4300 (TS-U633A burner) and successfully burnt it.

So, with the extra evidence I was able to persuade Dell to send me a replacement burner. I have successfully burnt another of the same discs with the new burner so I think the problem is fixed.

John, the problem is back. I'll give your method a try later tonight.

Got her today...Other than the REFURB sticker on the bottom, she looks brand spanking new....

I am loving this screen...I don't think I can ever go back to a 720p screen again...

Installed Windows 7 Pro and it uses all 8GB of memory now :)

Only issue I am having is I can't the display port to work. I bought the Display port to HDMI adapter from Monoprice...the laptop detects the display according to the NVIDIA control panel (it identifies the 2nd display), but the screen is dark (after a few seconds, it generates a NO INPUT SIGNAL DETECTED message).

I tried the NVIDIA driver from the Dell site for the E6410 as well as the Quadro NVS driver from Nvidia...same result both times...

The SSD is pretty sweet as well...

Did you step through the display device options using Fn+F8?
