Just so you know they will not cover any *prior acts* if you get coverage going forward.

And, I don't even know if they will cover you, once they know you already have damage on your lappy. Would it be limited coverage?

    Cin ;) :)

Sorry to break the bad news - but unless they've changed their policy -- Dell Accidental damage does not cover cosmetic issues - scratches, dents, cracks, etc. unless it actually impairs the functioning of the machine.

If the shell is dented really bad there's a good chance some of the innards have been damaged too. I'd do a REALLY thorough check to see if everything is still working as it should before replacing stuff.

I read that you mentioned that you had CompleteCare. Just so you know, complete care is dell's brand name for accidental damage.

If you have complete care then you have accidental damage. I just don't want you to spend more money for something you already have.

complete cover does cover accidental damage. if you tell them the hinge was damaged (which as per your description it seems to be) they'll fix it for free.

So do they allow adding completecare at any point in time ?

And how would they know if a damage was prior damage. Eg, someone geta laptop without completcare. At 7 months accident. He gets completecare. Then, send the laptop in for repair in month 9

ok. i was over exagerating. The corner of the laptop. the alloy shell bent in a little bit. it pushed the hindge up a little bit and it's not impairing me from using the beast of a machine. I have called them already. I just bought this laptop so i am covered. - You can add complete care . up to a certain point after purchase date. i think you get like a 20 day grace period.

So you're out of luck if you own the dell for more than a few months.

I got done talking to the guy about complete care. he says its covered. - for those rare occasion. he was exaggerating but he said- " if it were to fall out a third story building. if your brother accidently fell on it. it's covered. if it drops it's covered.

-- but honestly - because it was a new laptop i was tripping out so badly. I'll wait for a more serious problem before i consult dell.

bOx, how much did they chare you for completecare ?
And, by any chance did you tell them about the accident ?

And thanks for your report, I was not sure about getting completecare on laptops as I'm pretty careful, but you just gave a scenario where accidents happen through no fault of yours.

I learned this the hard way when my roof leaked last year, frying my (uncovered, no accidental warranty) laptop :(

PS: did you yell at the pedestrian ? :D
    I bet it was a girl :D
