I picked up a Latitude E6400 from the outlet yesterday. This is my first Latitude and should be quite an improvement over my current Inspiron 600m. Seems like a lot of people are happy with the system so I'm looking forward to getting it.

    Here are the specs:
    -P8400
    -2GB PC6400 (1 DIMM)
    -nVidia Quadro NVS 160M
    -WXGA+ LED
    -8x DVDRW
    -Backlit keyboard
    -80GB 7200RPM w/ FFS
    -6-cell battery
    -Dell 1397 wifi
-XP Pro (will be putting Vista Ultimate on)

    System price was $759

I'm looking forward to a large performance increase over my 600m that has a PM 1.8ghz Dothan. Hopefully I'll have the E6400 by Friday.

    I moved up from a 1.73Ghz Pentium M in my XPS m140. It's a huge difference.

I've had my E6400 for about two weeks now, and I have to say that I have few complaints to make.

One thing, however, the Dell laptop sleeve that I ordered with the machine is rather bulky (and rather heavy, too). I'm wondering if I got the 15.4" sleeve instead of the 14.1" sleeve I was supposed to receive.

I saw this sleeve at Fry's the other day:
    http://shop1.frys.com/{LgDyZPWdf0SQ...-6BPdVGjQ**.node1?site=sr:SEARCH:MAIN_RSLT_PG

It comes with a cloth that you can use to place between the keyboard and the screen. This might solve the problem you guys are having with the bezel getting scratched up. The sleeve is pretty lightweight and small, too.

I'm curious to hear what you guys are using. With such a long battery life on this machine, I plan to frequently leave my power supply at home and just take the sleeve.

I'd also like to hear some feedback on some ultralight, slim cases with handles for this laptop.

    I found this:
    https://www.radtech.us/Products/NotebookScreenSavrz.aspx
    I plan to get it.

    It's for Mac's and PC's
Just click on PC, and select the right size, I measured that the 32cmx21cm format should be perfect for this machine. However, I have yet to try (worst come to worst I'll cut it myself if it's too big). There is a 20% discount if you catch the online survey or use the promotion code "BUYGIFTS", presented on the page. I don't have the keyboard print on the screen issue, but it's to diminish the scratch. PLUS, I can use that to clean the screen from dust. It's also available in black. Company says that they ship worldwide.

This Belkin sleeve fits my E6400 (6 cell battery) OK. I would call it medium thickness.

If you want something without padding then look at the becase sleeves. I reviewed one here.

I have a Radtech cloth for my 600m currently. It is worth every penny IMO. I will probably get another one for the E6400 as well.

Sounds good.. keep us posted, GoodBytes! :)

I'm also using the dell sleeve. Yes, it is a bit too wide. But considering that I only paid 5 euros for it, that's totally okay with me.

Have you attempted running a game for a few hours? (specifically world of warcraft, although I doubt it matters which). The drivers *seem* to be okay, but after a few hours, the temperature jumps to 102 C (or so it thinks -- and there is no way this is possible). After it does that, it downclocks the GPU to lowest settings, and nothing but a hard reboot will bring it back to correct readings/clock. reverting to the dell-provided driver (which I really do not want to have to resort to for a whole host of reasons) solves the problem, and GPU-Z shows fan settings, as does the nvidia control software (nvidia system tools).

Either way, would you mind running GPU-Z and telling me if it shows you any fan information under sensors? let me know.

I use Everest, it's like CPUZ + GPUZ and gives you 1 hundred time more information about a system, also temperatures are accurate.

I will give you all the detailed and test result later when I have time. Right now, it's the end of university semester for me, and I am VERY busy. I can try the game FarCry2 if you want, I don't have World of WarCraft.

Also, tell me how you want me to test this... for example:
    - use power adapter, no battery
    - actual play the game, don't just stand there
    - for 2 hours
    - play the game at crazy settings where the system can't even play the game smoothly.
    - High Power mode.
