I just ordered mine, coming just before new years.

So what hardware do i have to have in order to have GPS receiver? Or is it already built-in with every computer?

It's part of the mobile broadband (WWAN) card. I got the Verizon one. I think the AT&T and Sprint options also gome with GPS but you should check.

Has anyone tried using the displayport with a HDMI converter to a Flatscreen? I have a Toshiba Flatscreen (720p) TV. I have tried to hook up my computer with the TV through the normal RGB out. The problem about this, however, is that I cannot use the full resolution of 1440x900. Therefore I only get a 4:3 signal of 1024x768 which is very annoying. Will the displayport to HDMI be the solution?
    Anyone have experiences with this?

And how about sound, will I get sound in with the signal?

Can you get that card aditionaly and add it if you dont get it during computer purchase.

From what i read HDMI port will give you full 1080p (1920x1200), i'm still waiting for my E6400 to get delivered so i didnt test it.
And yes sounds also goes through HDMI port.

Are you sure audio is output on the DisplayPort port on E6400? I haven't seen anyone confirm this.

I believe it should work (at least with Intel Graphics) because there is an Intel HDMI audio device in the device manager in addition to the IDT Audio device. But I am just guessing, I haven't tried it myself.

I don't think my TV can manage 1080p :-( Will I not be able to get it in 720p?

Few posts before someone said if you dont install correct audio drivers your HDMI port doesn't work. And knowing the HDMI technology sound should go through HDMI cable, that's how it's on my PS3 and also Phillips DVD player that i have.
I haven't tried it, but from my knowledge YES.

I'm sure you can get it lower then 1080p if you need it. It goes up to 1080p.

I'm using an hdmi converter with the intel graphics hooked up to a 1080p TV and it handles audio and video just fine.

How are delivery times looking for recently placed E6400 orders? I placed my order on 12/10 and am leaving the country soon.

I've done as you suggested. The thin metal cover is perfectly straight and sits flush. I guess it must be the laptop that's a little out of shape. Is this something that Dell would consider a good enough reason for an exchange?

They seem to be tight. I've tried switching on the quiet mode in BIOS, but no effect. It's not that it's loud, but it can definitely be heard from a few meters away, and that was not the case for my old Inspiron with a first-generation 7200 drive.
