Try to go with the audio driver Windows installs by default (HDT audio driver). It works better for most of the people. If your sound doesn't work fine, try to install the IDT audio driver.

Btw, my power cord for my ac adapter arrived this morning. What confuses me a bit is the following. Go to http://www.laptoppartsshop.com/uploads1/products/img3/256271_1221154319.jpg and look at the picture.
This is the ac adapter I got. But my power cord is not straight as seen on the right but makes a 180 degree turn (on the side that you plug into the ac adapter, not the side you plug into the power socket). This is a bit hard to imagine, but you plug it in, it then goes up and the cable comes out of the plug so that it is being lead over the ac adapter (in terms of the picture meaning it is directed away from you).

Am I mistaken or does this totally not make any sense? When I plug this into my notebook and go to the next power socket, the cable suddenly moves into the opposite direction.. uuhh.

This does not only shorten the range of the ac adapter (in addition, the cable itself already is shorter than the one I had before!), it also might lead to the connector falling out, as it is being pulled in the opposite direction.

I'm wondering if I should complain.. don't know if they would send a new one though.. :(

It's pretty convenient though to wrap the cable around the ac for traveling though. I like it that way rather then the simple cables.

Ah, right, I didn't see that. Thanks! I guess I'll try it out a bit and see if it works for me. :)

Any reports of how the HDT Defualt Vista driver works with the Audio out over Displayport? And is there an update for the HDT driver aswell? Who makes\produces it? Or is it just always updated through Windows Update?

too bad it doesnt sound simply like a driver issue. some people have resolved the poor audio with swapping hdds, or hdd modes, others with wlan cards, no definite found cause.

Could someone attempt to describe what the "cracking audio" problem means? I am not sure if I have the issue or not. 99% of the time, audio is fine (the speakers are actually better than I expected). But occasionally I hear some stuttering, when the HDD is accessed. Is this what you mean? I suppose it is kind of normal, for me it only happens with one game, for which I don't even meet the minimum requirements (Fallout 3).

Crackling audio means very small breaks in the sound causing a crackling sound. It can occur at any time but not so frequently that you hear nothing but crackling noise.

If it happens during just one game then you are lucky. The problem is reduced now since I upgraded the IMSM and IDT drivers but hasn't completely disappeared. I suggest you don't touch anything in case you provoke the problem!

Thanks; that did the trick! I was puzzled on why hardware acceleration makes it slower. Did some more reading online, and for those who are curious, here's a blog post by an Adobe Flash engineer on GPU acceleration for starters.

The default Vista audio driver works fine for audio out over displayport. I have mine hooked up to a TV with an HDMI adapter and I've had no issues.
