Media software (wtv the one you choose), cannot run codecs (audio or video) of a different "bit". Meaning, if you run a 32-bit media software it can ONLY use 32-not codecs. If you run a 64-bit media software you can only use 64-bit codecs. FINAL! No "But" 's! It's just can't be done.

There exists not Real player 64-bit codec at the moment. Therefor, any media software in 64-bit cannot open RealPlayer formats... as the codec is in 32-bit.

The only reason why you made you Media Player Classic read RealPlayer format, is that you install K-lite 32-bit and used Media Player Classic 32-bit.
If you downlod and install Media Player Classic 64-bit, you will see that it can't open your real player format, because, as I said, 64-bit realPlayer format codec does not exists.

If you install Shark Codec pack 32 and the 64-bit, then you'll get the same result. Meaning, that Media Player Classic 32-bit will read your realPlayer formats.

What I like the most about Shark007 codec packs is that they are clean, removes the mess that other codecs makes, and the uninstall does also a great cleaning job. Also it doesn't just pack in 20000 codecs in the hope that the media player program will figure out which one to use to read a format.

You should have them. Restart your computer and try again, if you have sound when you restart your computer, than Windows drivers were installed.

There is a bug on the touchpad driver that makes the mouse not work for a few seconds when you load your account. This bug still exists. If your touchpad continuously shutter, then you have a different problem. They are newly released mouse drivers you can try (remember to uninstall the old ones first and restart your computer, before installing the new ones). If that does not help, contact Dell tech support.

Didn't you just install Vista Biz x64? And download the most recent drivers?

Find the Intel SATA controller in Device Manager and check its driver version... should match the version of the Intel Matrix Storage Manager app in your Start menu, if it is installed. What was your BIOS SATA setting set to when you installed Vista... IRRT?

Regarding your stutter problems, I'd be curious to know if removing your DVD drive unit makes a difference.

    I don't think it's a 32 vs. 64 problem. Something else is off.

uninstalling the idt drivers, letting windows install windows drivers, and then installing idt drivers does not work.

updating the intel matrix storage manager fixed it!!

but im trying to install the driver portion, and theres no setup or anything, it just kind of unzips to a folder...how can i install the drivers?

if i suspect correctly, one is just a text version of the other? there is one labeled application, one labeled driver...i thought i had to download both? the application one has the same version number but says A04 at the end, so it seems like its newer, although the dates are the same.

my mouse is fixed too btw!

One is the driver that you manually update in Device Manager. The other is the whole package, driver and application, that installs automatically. You do not need to install both the standalone driver and the whole package, just one or the other. This is noted in my clean install notes.
