I got a similar system as one of the previous members posted... my system is:

    Intel Core 2 Duo P9500 (2.53GHz, 6M L2 Cache, 1066MHz FSB)
    14.1 inch UltraSharp WXGA+ (1440x900) LED Display
    6 Cell Primary Battery
    Intel Integrated Graphics 4500HD
    Back-lit Keyboard
    Internal 56K Modem
    4 GB DDR2 SDRAM 800MHz (2 DIMMs)
8X DVD +/- RW w/dbl layer write capability
160 GB Free Fall Sensor Hard Drive (7200RPM)
Intel WiFi Link 5300 802.11a/g/n Draft Mini Card
    Dell Wireless 370 Bluetooth Module
    Integrated Webcam with digital microphone
Windows XP Pro with Vista Business License

    $711.00 (after 20%)

I also got Free 2nd Day shipping by calling in with a rep, and I added the on-site warranty for $99.00. Also bought a dock with a coupon for about $100 even. Not a bad little setup for under a grand!

this may sound crazy, but i could swear since i upgraded to vista business 64bit, when i watch videos or online videos like youtube, the audio/video kind of hangs. any idea what this is? i have the latest gpu updates, and i installed a codec pack that has worked perfectly fine before.

    thanks

    Hi All,

This being a lounge, here is an unsolicited find that may be of interest... customizable skins for protecting latop surfaces. Designs are a bit limited, but the application looks reasonable. This company also seems to make a good selection of mouse pads and rests. Search Google for coupons.

Flash videos requires a lot of CPU power. And Flash player 9 and 10 has this bug for laptops.
Right click on the video and select 'settings', and then uncheck 'Enable hardware acceleration' when you are under battery (the setting is not remember for all Flash content), or if you set your system to 'power saver'.
Also, certain Flash based videos always lag until the download is complete.

As for your normal videos on the desktop, this is not normal.
What multimedia player software are you using? Is it in 32 or 64-bit?
What is the codec pack you are using? Is it in 32 or 64-bit?

unsolicited indeed, but useful. the better question is whether anyone has heard of or found something that is heat-resistant, e.g., felt, or something of that nature to keep my palms from warming the machine (and vice-versa). yes, i know this machine doesn't get "hot" but i hate heat at all.

Perhaps the skins would suffice or some thin fabric or neoprene treatment. Or maybe some auxilliary bead-filled wrist rest that could saddled over the front edge of the laptop.

There is a product called Duncan's Kitchen Grips that are extremely heat and wear resistant... and comfy. The hot pads look just like 1/8" thin mouse pads and are of similar construction... fabric facing on 'flxaprene'. A piece of this would insulate.

This is all moot since the E6400 doesn't have any heat issues, right? :)

I tried the Shark 64-bit codecs. They for some reason made my real media files not playable in Media Player Classic. Went to KLite 64 bit codecs, and the problem went away. I also have PowerDVD 8 Ultra, and I believe it has its own 32 bit codecs.

Windows Media Center in Vista 64 still does not support playback of real media. Not sure if the 32 bit version does any better though. Also there is no 64-bit version of Adobe Flash Player available for Vista.
